יש דיווחים שהדרג המדיני החליט על תגובה בטווח זמן מהיר. תגובה שלא תוביל לדבריהם למלחמה אזורית. אבל תהיה "נחושה" ו"נחרצת". ושהם מבינים שאיראן תגיב. לתגובה. שבאה בתגובה להתקפה האיראנית. אולי כל זה לוחמה פסיכולוגית בדרך למהלך חכם מאוד (נגיד מהלך טקטי נבון בעזה דווקא). אין אלא לקוות. אם לא, הנה הערותיי: 1. איך המערכת תדע מהי תגובה צבאית נחושה שלא תגרום למלחמה? כפי שאני מפרסם כבר כמה ימים, באמ"ן ובמוסד בכלל אמרו לדרג המדיני שהערכתם המרכזית היא שטהרן תספוג את חיסול מהדוי. הם גם העריכו שחמאס מורתע. ישראל פועלת עם קהילית מודיעין שטובה מאוד במידע טקטי ורעה בהבנה של כוונות אויב. ומגלה יהירות. זה לא בדיוק משרה ביטחון. 2. אם התגובה תהיה סמלית, לא נוצרה משוואה הולמת להתקפה (הבלתי נסבלת) של איראן. אם התגובה תהיה קשה מידי, ייתכן שזה יוביל למלחמה. במצב כזה, לא עדיף לנקוט במדיניות של "נבחר את המקום והשעה"? גיורא איילנד, גדעון סער, רון בן ישי, עמוס הראל ורבים אחרים חושבים כך. 3. כל המסגור של "להגיב או לא להגיב" הוא שקר. ברור שצריך להגיב. השאלה היא האם עכשיו. ופומבית. אני שומע שוב ושוב את הדיבור המאיים הזה של "צריך להגיב" והוא כולו שקרי. לא הייתה תגובה מיידית באותו לילה, וישראל יכולה להגיב גם עוד חודשיים. בחתימה גבוהה או נמוכה. הכדור אצלנו. וכל דיבורי המשוואה למיניהם: מה שיקבע אם נוצרה משוואה שמרתיעה אותנו הוא ההתנהגות העתידית שלנו ביחס למצב דומה לזה שהיה בדמשק. 4. תגובה ישראלית היא כמובן הפניית גב לבקשות המערב שרק כעת השתבחנו בברית אתו. זה לא נורא כשלעצמו; המערב מוכיח באוקראינה שהוא יודע לעמוד לצידך, אבל לא לגמרי ועד הסוף. מצד שני, בלעדיו לגמרי - אין לישראל (או לאוקראינה) סיכוי לנצח ממש. לכן צריך תבונה. וכן - ייתכן שהתגובה תהיה מדודה וחכמה ונבונה. כזו שלא נותנת לאיראנים סיבה להמשיך (אפשר לדמיין, נכס איראני מחוץ לאיראן?). אבל האם לא היה כדאי יותר למנף את המצב הנוכחי לאירוע אחר, דיפלומטי? אולי זה עוד יקרה. היו דיבורים בלילה שעבר. בגדול המערכת הישראלית מותנית פבלובית לבוז לדיפלומטיה. זו טעות במלחמה כזו. 5. המטריד ביותר. ישראל מובלת בידי מנהיגות בטחונית ופוליטית אחידה למדי, שרובה סוחב כישלון נורא, צריבת אגו ומורשת שילוו אותו אל ההיסטוריה. 7 באוקטובר. לחילופין: רמטכ"לים לשעבר. הצדדים מתחרים מי יותר אגרסיבי ומדליפים שזה או זה הציע להגיב באותו לילה. כי הם לא "ילדה עם קוקיות", אם לצטט ביטוי אחד המקובל במעגלים הללו. אני תוהה אם מישהו בדיונים - אני כותב מישהו כי נשים למרבה הצער לא משתתפות בהם - העלה את הסוגיה האזרחית כל כך של חג. פסח. של עם שלם שנמצא בפוסט טראומה. כי אם מגיבים, ואז מחכים לאיראן, הגענו לסדר פסח. וכן - זה שיקול במלחמה. צורך לנהל גם את רוח הציבור. צ'רצ'יל עסק בדברים כאלה בהרחבה. כמו גם בדיפלומטיה. כשצריך, הוא ידע להתחנן לאמריקנים. אבל צ'רצ'יל, בניגוד למנהיגים פה, לא היה מכור לתפיסה צבאית בסגנון מג"ד טירונים. 6.כולי תקווה שיש איזה מהלך מבריק שנרקם כאן מצד המערכת הישראלית, ושהדברים לא כה שקופים ומסוכנים כפי שהם נראים מבחוץ. המטרה של מניעת מלחמה אזורית היא בבסיס יעדיה של ישראל במלחמה. איראן צריכה לשלם מחיר, וישראל צריכה להמשיך לפגוע באיראנים שמכווינים טרור לשטחה. אני לא משוכנע שתגובה שקופה, מהירה ופומבית תשרת את כל היעדים האלה. רבים וטובים חושבים כמוני.

@ASAPstein8 They all live in an open-air prison. Governments have military bases. Hamas doesn't because Israel would kill everyone inside the base the minute it was constructed. So, saying "they're among human shields" is like saying I don't care about killing innocent Palestinians.

"Hamas uses human shields" is the weakest, lamest most overused talking point in history. Ok, even if that were true, is the answer to kill the human shields? I would never kill a "human shield" in a hostage situation. What kind of a monster would?
