Airline captain. Big D Democrat. Never had X until now. I kept watching horseshoe lefties colonize every corner of liberal online space. When independents look at what "the left" says online, they see those people and assume that's us. It isn't. They don't vote Democrat. They don't believe in liberal democracy. They are as much a threat to this party as MAGA is, just from a different angle. Populism is a cancer. The actual base of this party is overwhelmingly people with liberal values who don't tune into politics, not loud performative online leftists who treat the Democratic Party like a hostage

Ezra Klein’s main function is to sanewash the far left. I like when he writes books about permitting reform and stuff, but the point of all that is to build credibility which he can then deploy to shield the far left. That’s his institutional purpose.

The way this video is so appalling . I’m tired of Black women carrying neoliberalism on their backs. Your politicians work for YOU. As citizens we need to demand more & if that means not voting for the two major parties, so be it. Stop thinking the bare minimum is revolutionary.

Hasan Piker went to Yale to debate students and basically dropped some facts that are obvious by now. The dictatorship of the proletariat is better than a dictatorship of the rich, and the fall of the USSR was a global catastrophe. It’s wild that we live in a world with no serious political alternative — nothing with even a fraction of the ambition found in past socialist projects. Instead, we have some "leftists" who aggressively ditch those ambitions and lose their minds, calling Piker a Stalinist and a fascist at the same time. The fact that the eng-speaking world even has a big speaker who dares to touch big politics is a miracle. But we’re quickly reminded just how far the landscape has shifted to the right, and exactly where the RED lines are.

It says something that the weakest special election overperformances have come from leftist candidates and/or more nationalized races. Seems to complicate the argument that Dems should tack leftward to win elections, when the reality looks increasingly more nuanced.
