I respect Orban. His immigration stance is correct, his stanceS on the Ukraine war and the EU are correct, and he seems to me to be a Hungarian patriot who loves his country. I suspect however, that the forces which are lined up against him are very committed to bringing him down, so he has some challenges ahead. I hope he stays true to his populist instincts and keeps demonstrating to the people that he’s looking out for their best interests.

Actually, in the last couple of days, I’ve started seeing posts from patriotic Iranians inside their country who are risking everything to help Israel and the United States win this war, and it seems to me that this is a game changer. It’s one of the reasons why Trump can speak so confidently. We have intelligence that the Iranians cannot possibly defend against, and the IRGC knows this and he is panicking. What we’re seeing is that many every day Iranians are sensing the opportunity for freedom, which they have never seen in the last 47 years, and they are willing to risk their lives for it. Well, AOC and her allies clearly want to remove all of Israel’s defense capabilities because they hate Israel and want them to be defeated by its enemies. What these morons don’t realize (or maybe they prefer it this way, they are deranged after all) is that Iron Dome, for years, actually allows Israel to be more restrained. Without it, the response is more forceful because there is no other choice. Iron Dome is a shield for innocent people, including Americans in Israel, but it’s also a shield for innocents in territories and countries taken over by Islamic fundamentalists who keep sending rockets and ballistic missiles into civilian targets.

This seems like a very good point to me. I always thought it was a bit odd that Joseph of Arimathea was seemingly able to get permission quite easily to take Jesus’s body. It seemed inconsistent with the rest of the crucifixion narrative; perhaps a clue lies in his relationship with Nicodemus, who was a Pharisee and, possibly a secret disciple of Jesus. I’ve always given John’s gospel the most credibility in this respect, because it seems that he was an eyewitness to much of what took place in that moment, so I place some importance on the fact that he mentions the participation of Nicodemus. The fact that Joseph and Nicodemus were together in burying Jesus would imply that they had a relationship perhaps based on shared discipleship or more. So together, they may have had the influence necessary to persuade Pilate to release the body. There seemed to be more going on there than was clearly spelled out in the gospel narrative.

When Jesus declared “You will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of power.” It was Caiaphas who tore His garments and cried out “blasphemy!” But the law forbade a high priest from tearing those robes and by committing that act, Caiaphas symbolized the end of the ancient priesthood, the end of the animal sacrifices. The temple was ending and a new temple was raising up. Caiaphas did not bring Jesus before Pilate with a religious accusation, but a political matter: “He makes Himself a king.” Pilate gave in for fear of losing his position. At 3 o’clock on Friday afternoon, as Jesus was dying, in the temple right where Caiaphas had officiated, the veil tore. Remembering Jesus’ words “I will rise again on the third day.”, The high priests and the Pharisees asked Pilate to have the tomb sealed and guarded, unintentionally, giving us the greatest proof of the resurrection: that Jesus’ body could not have been stolen. On the third day when the guards ran to Caiaphas to report the tomb was empty, Caiaphas did not repent. He bribed them to cover it up. Three years later, Caiaphas was deposed by the Romans. He would die in disgrace, taking with him into the ossuary those two nails. Were the nails a sign of repentance? A relic? A trophy? Were they just two random nails that meant nothing arbitrarily placed in the box? (Yeah nice try). We cannot say for sure. But we do know the paradox of God is that He will use any means, including man’s sin, to accomplish His grace.
