@SimonLester24 @waztap @panks_79 To both: ASLEF’s position is to have Sundays included in the working week as part of a fully-staffed 7-day roster (as at my TOC). Some companies prefer not to do this as it is cheaper to pay overtime.

1/21 With Summer coming to an end and poorer weather on the horizon, a Train Driver’s thoughts start to turn towards Leaf Fall Season but just how slippery do tiny leaves make the railway? And what can be done to reduce the risks?

@MarkSharon_DP @thebestmarklee All countries with deciduous trees by the lineside have the problem. You don’t hear about it because the media don’t deem it newsworthy.
Ultimately, it’s just simple physics.

@thebestmarklee Do other countries have leaves on the line problem? No because most do not have a live rail design for outdoor trains.

Today would have been the birthday of Karen Harrison.
Karen was one of Britain’s first woman train drivers, and a proud union activist.
Because she refused to take “no” for an answer, so many of us now get to say “yes” to incredible railway careers today.
