You know how they have those cable line fences between I-20? We were traveling westbound when we noticed a black guy lying over the cable barrier in the median, shirtless. We initially thought he was dead. My BIL, who is an RN, immediately prepared to stop and administer aid if needed. We took the Millhaven exit about a mile up the road, doubled back, and headed eastbound toward the Start exit to get a mile marker for 911. As we passed him the second time, we saw he wasn’t dead but appeared zooted out, bent at the waist and frozen like a statue. His body was on the west side of the median while his little dog, tied to a 12-foot rope, was on the east side desperately pulling to get away. We called 911, turned around at the Start exit. That’s where I found this unforgettable fire department building. On the way back west , we saw he had somehow made it across heavy traffic and was now sitting on the shoulder with the dog in the right lane. Hopefully, authorities got there and all’s well. It’s a very remote stretch of highway with no homes or civilization around, so we have no idea how he and his furry padna ended up out there. Hoping he and the dog are safe. LA State Police Troop F is right there.

Went to Dauphin Island, AL for a quick getaway. Took the ferry to Fort Morgan. Amazing. The sights may change with time, but the sounds of the wind ripping through the structure remain the same.
