@Stealy_phil @sockobuw Hey be nice ! 😎
You are right, there will be a learning curve. But I bet the wrestler's stop going out of bounds so much.
English

@ChuckBarbee1 @sockobuw Barbee the ultimate troll. High school refs are going to be horrendous with this rule
English

@KozakJon What are your thoughts on incentivizing pushing the wrestler out?
English

@ChuckBarbee1 You'd rather have them go out and allow the ref to call "action"?
"Great wrestling" or not, a stepout point increases action on the edge and truly encourages wrestlers to stay in bounds. The "action" call in folkstyle encourages wrestlers to go out of bounds, stopping action.
English

@KozakJon I guess as a clip to support a push out, I didnt think it was great wrestling. I commend their effort though, they are both obviously trying very hard.

@ChuckBarbee1 This is the Asian Championship finals featuring an Olympic bronze medalist, and the score is 10-9 with less than a minute left...

Today, I’m announcing a decision that has not come easy.
Wrestling has been a part of my identity for as long as I can remember. This sport built me. It shaped my discipline, resilience, toughness, and mindset. It gave me lifelong friendships, unforgettable highs, hard lessons through adversity, and a standard for how I approach life every single day!
But sometimes in life, all you need is an opportunity. First, you have to recognize it. Second, you have to have the courage to ATTACK it.
This was simply an opportunity I could not ignore.
I’ve accepted the position as Vice President of Sales for the state of Wisconsin with Home Pro Roofing. This opportunity will bless my family in ways I never imagined possible, and after a lot of reflection and many conversations with my wife and kids, I knew it was the right step forward.
Stepping away from coaching was not a decision I made lightly. In truth, I never thought I would. I’m stepping away from an incredible team and a group of young men I care deeply for — but I’m also stepping into another incredible team. I now have the opportunity to build and lead a group of highly motivated, hungry individuals across the state of Wisconsin, and that challenge excites me!
I want to give a heartfelt THANK YOU to Chris Bono specifically. Fifteen years of loyalty, growth, adversity, championships, rebuilding years, and everything in between. We’ve been side by side through it all. I wouldn’t have wanted to go through those battles with anyone else. I’m forever grateful for the trust, the leadership, and the friendship.
The good news is — I’m not going anywhere. I’ll still be in the Madison area. My family loves the state of Wisconsin! And while I may be stepping away from the mat, I’m not stepping away from the mindset.
What excites me most about Home Pro Roofing is the culture. The team is made up largely of former wrestlers — disciplined, competitive, tough and hungry individuals who know how to work and serve others. My kind of people!
Home Pro Roofing has built a very strong presence in both Michigan and Ohio, and now we’re building something special here in Wisconsin. I have the privilege of leading that charge!
And here’s where it gets exciting.
I will be aggressively recruiting sales professionals who want more — more growth, more opportunity, and more impact. Especially former wrestlers and competitors who still have that fire but are looking for a new arena to compete in!
Former wrestlers and athletes — if you still have that competitive fire but are looking for a place to channel it, I’d love to connect!
I am quickly building a team of high character, competitive, disciplined, hard-working winners here in Wisconsin.
If that sounds like you, send me a message. LET’S TALK!
Wrestling taught me that the best rewards come from stepping into the uncomfortable and betting on yourself.
This is me doing exactly that.
Grateful for the past.
Excited for the future.
Ready to build.
WIN THE DAY!

Tons of great action in the #ncaawrestling finals tonight!!
Congrats to the coaches and wrestlers on finishing another exciting season.

@paul_mohr2000 @Zar__45 Taking on the task of trying to define, let's say, just a single takedown is pretty tough...think of all the scenarios for even just one takedown and then all the defenses being applied to try and stop it. Not saying it wouldn't be good...just hard to do.
English

@Zar__45 @ChuckBarbee1 I don’t disagree with this statement.
There is an effort to make it more clear to all officials, which still hasn’t happen.
How can we make it clear to all stakeholders what a takedown is in each situation?
Only a select group of people seem to know…
English

@Zar__45 I would contend that how to earn points is very clear and objective.
The problem is the wrestler trying to score doesn't do what is required. When this happens people want "close" to be good enough, but that is not fair to the other wrestler.
English

@ChuckBarbee1 Because reaction time is more subjective than the alternative.
English

@sparky2472 That's for the referee to do, and it has always been that way. Its on the wrestler to make it clear enough. When they dont do that, they risk not getting the points.
English

@ChuckBarbee1 Define reaction time then. The hand in the match in the 184 final is a good example it was down but not very long. Might have to make it a one count then control?
English

@mdouglass11 Scoring always required control, loss of control or change of control beyond reaction time. They did get rid of the rear standing, no reaction time required rule a few years back. That was the only position without reaction time. Well, that and locked hands down on the mat.
English

@ChuckBarbee1 Didn’t they try that a few years ago, and then changed it back?
English

@anthony_Terliz I dont have too much to add if you want to completely change it to a different type of wrestling. I wouldn't be in favor of that, but I know that there are some that advocate for that.
English

@ChuckBarbee1 Adopt freestyle takedown… there is very rarely controversy over a freestyle takedown.
