Wow. I just watched a guy explain (and prove experimentally) that throwing and jabbing spears *with stone tips* were mostly used for fishing, not for killing big game animals. It means the ancient Neanderthal spears were also meant for fishing. To kill big game animals you need either steel tips, a bow & arrow, or an atlatl (a spear thrown with a separate stick).
