when men say they want "a beautiful mid to call my own" I think women misunderstand this almost completely. It does not mean "she's a five" or anything like that.
it means a woman who is clearly attractive, but presented as normal, attainable, non-celebrity, non-model, perhaps even specifically “my type.” in other words, a real person to fall in love with.
a beautiful mid is exceptional. when a man takes the beautiful mid as his own he is saying:
here is my own beautiful woman. she is not a remote cultural object manufactured for universal consumption. she belongs to my actual life and I belong to hers.
in this way "a beautiful mid" is a phrase steeped in sincere devotion, even if cloaked in irony.
