Being an artist or feeling ‘unique’ isn’t rare today, many create from personal spark. But AI changes that: as more artists take shortcuts and stop producing purely on their own, real human-made art becomes rarer. The romantic myth cracks: most ‘originality’ is remix. Talent doesn’t guarantee wins in the deluge; ‘fairness’ was always a comforting lie.

@CindySinor Lucky me, I saw this picture in Paris with my own eyes. In this era of AI art confusion, seeing art in person is becoming essential. Art isn’t just an image. It’s a story told through real brushstrokes, real choices, and real human hands.

The painting in my previous post is John Singer Sargent’s Staircase in Capri (1878)—not as widely recognizable as his famous, highly controversial Portrait of Madame X (1884). Sargent himself considered the portrait his best work, stating in 1915, “I suppose it is the best thing I have done.” Madam X is housed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC.

Which American artist painted these sunlit steps in 1878?

The rectangle is a very human shape; we put things in boxes, both literally and metaphorically. Study of Newton Hall Shops, catching the evening sun. Oil on canvas board, 8 x 10 inches. #Durham #NewtonHall #urbanlandscape #pleinair

@zck “the word sabotage is derived from 'sabot' which were wooden shoes workers would throw into the gears of machinery as protest during the early industrial revolution to stop production”

Uniqueness isn’t dead, it’s rooted in lived scars, raw risk, obsession, and that stubborn human ‘why’. AI can only remix patterns, never bleed that fire. Don’t compete with the endless flood. Hold your art & dreams close. Share sparingly (never give all your images away free, online everything gets copied/remixed). We need pop-up gallery shows meant to be experienced in person only, never fully photographed. The personal scars, joys, obsessions? Still yours. Create for meaning.

This is a colour pencil drawing. The lettering is hand rendered too - I trained in typography at uni. I don't use any AI in my work. I use my eyes, my heart and my hands.

"I ask you to pass through life at my side--to be my second self, and best earthly companion." Charlotte Bronte Why include words in my art? Because they are beautiful and mean the world to me. And just maybe they'll introduce new people to these authors too. #womensart
