This happens a lot with Black athletes, especially in football and basketball. It’s not that they do not make enough either. Most of them are supporting entire families (like literally parents, grandparents, aunties, uncle, cousins) and communities while lacking real financial literacy. Big contracts without long term investing equals short term wealth. When you’re spread thin and not taught how to build, that money goes fast.
