Just a reminder that Michigan football’s all-time single season passing record is 25. This has to be the most embarrassing stat ever for a major program. To put that in perspective, 17 QB’s threw more touchdowns than that last year alone. Mendoza threw for 41. Is this the year the record finally falls?

With the exception of Rich Rodriguez in 2008, every Michigan head coach dating back to Bo Schembechler has won at least eight games in his first season.〽️ Does Whittingham reach eight wins (or more) in 2026? #GoBlue

Let’s have a discussion. There’s a narrative out there that the new age of NIL and CFP is bad for the smaller schools. I simply don’t see it. I mean yeah, their best players can get cherry picked by big programs, but we are also seeing a wave of talented players leave big programs for more snaps at smaller schools. Money has always been an advantage for big schools but I think there was more of an imbalance in the old system. The proof is in the pudding. Indiana just won a Natty. Boise State got a first round bye in the CFP. I mean hell, even North Texas was relevant heading into the last week of the regular season. None of those things were possible 20 years ago. To me, this is more fun. It’s definitely not perfect and there a lot to clean up. But I’d rather not move backwards.

There’s always been greed and corruption. And you’re right, the kinks are still being worked out. But I’d rather not go back to what we had. Also I’m not sure if the narrative that this hurts the little guys is actually true. Indiana is a perfect example. Not to mention a team like Boise getting to the CFP. Indiana and Boise State have quite literally never been on a stage so big.

@WolverineChron @UofMKwn You could’ve simply stated that IU winning was a cool story without saying that an era of college sports replete with corruption, greed, zero regulation, NIL run amok & a transfer portal situation that kills the “little guys” and ensures no roster continuity is a “golden age”…

Just remembering that Indiana went from a perennial losingest team in the country to an undefeated National Champ in 2 years. We absolutely live in the golden age of college football and people still find a way to complain about it.

@UofMKwn It’s definitely not perfect. But it’s better than it ever was. I respect your opinion though 🫡 Go Blue!

@WolverineChron You really went w/ that last bit? At no point was that ever accurate, on top of the fact that these players need the schools platform more than the schools need any individual players. You prefer players extorting coaches to commit/not transfer? OR conf champs being meaningless?

You wanna go back to when there were ties? Or when an undefeated team could be ranked #2 in the polls and not get a fair shot at a championship? Or when players had to put their bodies on the line day after day after day for our entertainment while schools made millions and players couldn’t accept 10 dollars?

Allow me to explain: 1) They are an undefeated National Champion in the playoff era (this immediately narrows it down to 6 teams) 2) They were forced to play the second half of the year without their sign stealer, while every other power team was allowed to keep their sign stealer, but they kept winning anyway. (I know y’all will lose your minds over this one, but it’s a fact). 3) They lost their Unanimous All-American offensive lineman with a season ending injury during the biggest regular season game of the year, but they kept winning anyway (as a team that relied heavily on the run game). 4) Their head coach wasn’t on the sidelines for 6 regular season games, but they kept winning anyway. 5) They won it all in the new NIL era where every team was paying players, rather than the era of big SEC teams funneling money to players while most other teams on the country could not. 6) They beat the undisputed greatest coach of all-time in the playoffs. I could keep going, but this is enough to make my point.

The 2023 Michigan national championship is the most legitimate national championship in history. They did it the hard way, and they did it fairly.
