Shared decision-making wirh patients/clinicians does work & should be encouraged, BUT ONLY when patients are equipped with all the info they need to make an informed and consenting decision on their options. That includes discussions on risk, side-effects & available evidence.

This is why “shared decision-making” doesn’t work. The doctor/nurse practitioner doesn’t share the risk, so should not have veto power over the patient’s decision to have screening. They must be obliged to provide a requisition when a woman asks.

Quebec women need to be directly informed of their breast density and the implications. Because they live in Qc, they do not have the same access to early detection, which is so important. Qc women should also be able to self-refer for a mammogram as of 40 #tellme #40not50

Les usagers ne sont pas toujours des patients partenaires (PP), mais les PP sont toujours aussi des utilisateurs du système de santé. Donc le #PL15 DOIT inclure les patients partenaires et groupes de défense des patients comme la @CoalitionCancer & @patients_udm. #polqc

L'expérience patient/familles est essentielle à capturer, mais seulement si on agit sur ces données, et qu'on co-construit les mesures avec les personnes & groupes concernés et représentatifs: @CoalitionCancer & @patients_udm (pas établir uniquement avec fonctionnaires).

La réponse est non. Notre projet de loi prévoit que chaque établissement sonde la satisfaction des patients et ait la marge de manoeuvre nécessaire pour s’adapter en fonction de leurs commentaires. On le fait pour les patients.
