Columbia-Richland Fire Department

The Richland County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene. The fire was extinguished and its cause is under investigation by the Richland County Fire Marshal’s Office.

At around 5:40 a.m. Friday our 1st Shift crews were dispatched to a reported house fire at a home on Harmon Road. Firefighters arrived on scene to find fire throughout the home.

Crews entered the structure through the rear of the property and extinguished the fire as they made their way to the front. During searches of the home one person was found unresponsive in a front bedroom and our crews moved the individual outside.

Most of the damages from the fire were in the kitchen of the property. The cause of the fire was determined to be due to cooking.

One person was taken to the hospital following a fire at a home on Romain Drive this afternoon. @ColaFire 1st Shift crews along with Irmo Fire District were dispatched out to the scene shortly after 2 p.m. Monday.

Heavy smoke could be seen coming from the property upon our arrival and there was also fire showing from the rear of the home. Two people who were inside the home at the time escaped safely and one of them was transported by Richland County EMS to be checked out.

No one was injured by the store was left with a lot of damages after the wreck. Law enforcement will be investigating the collision. Power was shut off to the shop and three neighboring ones.

Four businesses at a small strip mall on Colonial Life Blvd W are without power this morning after a vehicle left the parking lot and drove into one of them. @ColaFire 1st Shift crews responded to the scene shorty after 9:30 a.m.

The fire was extinguished and no one else was injured. At this time the cause of the incident is under investigation by our fire marshals office with assistance from South Carolina SLED.

Shortly before 5:15 p.m. our 3rd Shift crews responded to Abingdon Road in Columbia for a reported house fire. Upon arrival firefighters found the home fully involved with heavy fire coming from multiple windows.

Crews began fire suppression efforts from the outside and were eventually able to make entry into the home. While searching the property an individual was discovered inside the structure and the Richland County Coroner’s Office was notified.
