The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Earlier this morning 1st Shift crews were called out to a fire at a home on Kelsey Street off of Fairfield Road. A large amount of fire was showing from the front of the house when firefighters arrived on scene.

Crews made entry and extinguished the fire in several interior rooms. The occupant of the property escaped out of a window and was transported by Richland County EMS for minor injuries. Firefighters also rescued several pets in the house.

All occupants of the building made it out safely and there were no injuries. Five people have been left displaced. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Richland County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Busy morning for @ColaFire 1st Shift crews right out of the gate today! 🔥🔥 Firefighters made fast work of an apartment fire off of Sparkleberry Lane. Crews were called out to Wildewood South apartments shortly after 10:15 a.m.

Great 👍 work Engine 24, Engine 32, Ladder 4, Engine 14, Rescue 3, Engine 33, Engine 34, Rehab 1 and our officers on scene. Thank you also to Richland County EMS for responding. 🚑

Upon arrival they found smoke showing from a first floor unit in one building and surrounding apartments were quickly evacuated. After making entry firefighters located the fire in the laundry room of the apartment and extinguished it.

Our firefighters bring their compassion and care to every call! 🚒 Ms. Jill Knoll of Richland County saw that firsthand after her husband had a fall in their home and the crew of Engine 24-2nd Shift responded to help. After the incident she sent them a wonderful note of thanks!

TRAFFIC ALERT 🚨: I-77 southbound is down to one lane near mile marker 18 as our crews are on scene of a motor vehicle accident involving three vehicles. It is expected to take significant time before the scene is cleared. Drivers should seek alternate routes.

Our firefighters 🚒 on Engine 6 - 1st Shift took some time this morning to spend with kids attending Barron Academy at HB Rhame Elementary! The crew enjoyed dressing out in their gear, showcasing the firetruck and talking about their professions.

Rescue 3, Engine 8, Engine 14 and Ladder 4 also responded quickly and were cleared. We also greatly appreciate Fort Jackson Fire Department for providing us support on this call.

Tuesday night @ColaFire 3rd Shift crews arrived at this home on Morninglo Lane to find fire showing from three sides of the property.

The fire was determined to have been caused by unattended cooking. Exceptional work by Engine 12, Ladder 8, Rescue 1, Engine 33, Engine 32, Engine 11 Ladder 14 and our battalion chiefs and commanding officers.

The crew then advanced through the front door of the house and worked to prevent the fire from spreading further. The fire was extinguished and the scene was brought under control. The owner of the home escaped safely and no one was injured.

After assessing conditions around the home firefighters on Engine 32 stretched hoses to two points of the structure and began extinguishing the fire through the kitchen window and gable vent.
