Did 3 site visits around London today on motorbike, very convenient using the shared bus bike and cycle lanes through @lb_southwark . At 20mph these seem safe for bikers and cyclists but how do cyclists view sharing them with bikes and scooters ? #cycling #buslanes

What I learnt on Day 1 #futurebuild : hot water cylinder manufacturers have no interest in upgrading insulation as “house builders are not asking for it”. 50mm has not improved in 20 years.

@MarkSiddallRIBA Ironic that @IStructE call themselves Sustainability Champions, but their members just plod on the old way ignoring the implications of their designs.

@ConkerCC Very poor. Work around them? …Sounds like they are comfortable calculating load transfer. Therefore, design the thermal break as needed, and then they have to demonstrate the structural requirements which take/support the load according to Part A.

Quote from structural engineer “thermal breaks are not covered within building regulations Part A or any British Standards relating to structural design. We are not comfortable in specifying them in our package “ I find this disgraceful in 2024 #engineering #thermalinsulation
