Broomfield School Resource Officers are familiar faces at local schools. They work in, and visit, the schools every day for a variety of reasons. BPD Officers are often asked to speak to students about law enforcement, their patrol vehicles and uniforms, 911 and more. Less often the department's Detention Officers get the chance to share their work with kids and teens. Last week two Broomfield Detention Officers spoke to a group 2nd graders. Understandably, they had a lot of questions! 😄

(Only a month late to bragging on this but...) Easily one of the most fun stories I've done in recent memory. Water rights in the west are my #1 favorite things to write about, and it's always an honor to learn more about the communities affected by them.

Per press conference with Broomfield PD, shooter is in custody. The male suspect and one female victim were injured. No information yet on their conditions or nature of injuries

At the active shooter scene in Arista, we don’t know much right now but updates will be here as they come in.

The SUSPECT is in CUSTODY. The scene is now SECURE. Suspect and one victim transported to a local hospital. Conditions unknown.

If you are worried about the recent rise in anti-lgbt+ legislation and want to get firearm/self defense training, nows as good of a time as ever. Learning to safely operate a firearm is something every American should learn. Learning other forms of self defense can only help u.
