It must hurt even more when those sons or heirs in this context, all idolize Ronaldo but when asked to choose between Messi and Ronaldo, they choose Messi as the best! Ronaldo has done his part. The players that idolised him like Mbappé and Haaland have taken over and are continuing with his legacy. He can rest knowing his legacy is in safe hands. Messi hasn’t created any heirs to his throne and for that he has to compete with Ronaldo’s sons.

I don't get it. He didn't say anything wrong. Ronaldo fans have been calling Messi a dictator for years. On the other hand, Ronaldo has always been criticized for not being a team player. Now, Portuguese players are coming forward and making it clear that Ronaldo has no special privileges inside the dressing room. He receives the same treatment as everyone else. He is a team player. If anything, they should be happy that his teammates are finally acknowledging him as a team player. Okay, let's be clear about this. We want Portugal to win the World Cup, but not this year. We keep saying that Ronaldo is holding Portugal back, and we genuinely mean it. So why do we keep repeating it when we know that, if Portugal acted on that advice, they might actually have a better chance of winning? The answer is simple. We know that as long as this narrative comes from Messi fans, the Portugal team, and Ronaldo supporters will automatically dismiss it, even if there's some truth to it. As a result, they'll continue backing Ronaldo's place in the team. In other words, we're playing reverse psychology. The more we say Ronaldo is holding Portugal back, the more likely they are to keep playing him. We see it as a win. Then why have I just revealed to you the truth? Because we know you will still back Ronaldo, because we also know, Ronaldo fans will never agree with Messi fans.
