The Trump administration indicting someone over an innocuous social media post is far more damning than anything they’ve accused Biden or European governments of doing. This is starting to look like an op, and Zelensky and his people might not be smart enough to realize it. They have fallen into a Russian trap. Let’s review:
1. Israel is a small state that is under no obligation to ally publicly with Ukraine against Russia, with whom it has a complex web of relationships related to, inter alia, the safety of hundreds of thousands of Jews who live in Russia. Certainly, Israel is not going to be bullied into allyship with Ukraine against Russia.
2. For better or worse—for worse, actually—most nations in the world have not boycotted all trade with Russia, not even many European nations, not even Ukraine’s own financial underwriters.
So why, of all the trade coming out of Russia, would Ukraine get excited about a grain ship to Israel, and not the same ship when it goes to Turkey?
Who benefits from seeing countries within the broad Western alliance bickering among themselves over a trifle? That’s right… Zelensky has fallen into a Russian PR trap. It is a classic Duginite play. It won’t hurt Israel, but it has already cost Ukraine a large amount of goodwill.

Zelenskyy SILENT on Turkey (Türkiye) purchasing stolen grain, but he slams Israel. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy is raising quite a stink about Israel allegedly purchasing stolen Ukrainian grain from Russia. This story first appeared in a Reuters article on 04/15 titled "Ukraine broaches 'stolen' Russian grain cargo on call with Israel". The Ukrainian FM took to the internet and put Israel on blast by expressing the need to refrain from buying such products. According to the Reuters article, "Ukrainian official estimated in August that Russia has stolen 15 million tons of Ukrainian grain since the start of the full-scale war". So where is it all going? I am glad you asked. Literal tons upon tons have been pouring into Turkey since 2022 and it continues to this day. As a matter of fact, the Abinsk's next stop after Israel was Turkey. Shocking. Surely Zelenskyy is very upset about Turkey continuing to buy the grain off of the EXACT SAME BOAT THAT DOCKED IN ISRAEL! Nope. 6 positive posts about Ukraine's relationship with Turkey have appeared on Zelenskyy's X account in April '26. A search of Zelenskyy's X account for anything negative for "Turkey" or "Türkiye" yield zero results from what I found. Why? Zelenskyy thinks Turkey will protect him from Russia and help him get into the EU. I guess stolen grain is a small price to pay.

Zelensky's beef is wrong as a matter of international law. In cases of territorial disputes, or even clear belligerent occupation, there is no requirement on third countries to boycott goods from the occupied territory. Thus the EU imports tomatoes from Western Sahara & cheese from Northern Cyprus. Many countries have imported phosphates from W.Sahara. Israel certainly has no duty to make inquiries into the political status of goods imported in its ports.

In any normal country, purchasing stolen goods is an act that entails legal liability. This applies, in particular, to grain stolen by Russia. Another vessel carrying such grain has arrived at a port in Israel and is preparing to unload. This is not – and cannot be – legitimate business. The Israeli authorities cannot be unaware of which ships are arriving at the country’s ports and what cargo they are carrying. Russia is systematically seizing grain on temporarily occupied Ukrainian land and organizing its export through individuals linked to the occupiers. Such schemes violate the laws of the State of Israel itself. Ukraine has taken all necessary steps through diplomatic channels to prevent such incidents. However, we see that yet another such vessel has not been stopped. I have instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to inform all partners of our state about the situation. Based on information from our intelligence services, Ukraine is preparing a relevant sanctions package that will cover both those directly transporting this grain and the individuals and legal entities attempting to profit from this criminal scheme. We will also coordinate with European partners to ensure that the relevant individuals are included in European sanctions regimes. Ukraine counts on partnership and mutual respect with every state. We are genuinely working to enhance security, particularly in the Middle East region. We expect that the Israeli authorities will respect Ukraine and refrain from actions that undermine our bilateral relations.

Trump’s DOJ just filed what may be the most deranged written Motion ever. It reads more like a Truth Social post dictated by Trump himself. What an embarrassment.
The Motion is filled with inappropriate personal insults. It literally calls the National Trust for Historic Preservation name “FAKE” and says the group is “very bad for our Country.” It accuses them of suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome” and frames their lawyer as “the lawyer for Barack Hussein Obama.”
This is an actual line from the filing: “because it is DONALD J. TRUMP, a highly successful real estate developer, who has abilities that others don't, especially those who assume the Office of President, this frivolous and meritless lawsuit was filed.”

Then comes the opportunism. The filing leans heavily on the White House Correspondents’ Dinner incident and uses it to push Trump’s long-standing obsession with building a ballroom. Instead of addressing what went wrong, it argues that none of this would have happened if Trump’s project already existed.
They claim “bipartisan support” because of support from…John Fetterman.
The lawsuit also claims at multiple points the ballroom won’t cost taxpayers anything—something we now know to be false.
Every DOJ lawyer who put their name on this should be ashamed. And it should be a major scandal that it appears that Donald Trump is the one who actually wrote this. So much for DOJ independence.

🇷🇺 Sergei Loyter, a top executive at Russia’s largest technology company, Yandex, has died under mysterious circumstances.
The wave of deaths among senior Russian managers and businessmen that began after the start of the war in Ukraine continues.
The 42-year-old Loyter drowned while fishing on the Volga River near Volgograd. He served as Yandex’s commercial director from 2022 to 2024 and most recently worked for Yango, the company’s international division.
His body was identified among three missing fishermen whose disappearance was reported at the end of last week. Along with Loyter, local developer Sergei Nazarov (whose body has still not been found) and the businessman’s personal driver, Igor Prokhorov, also drowned.
Prokhorov’s body was recovered first. Police stated that the deceased had injuries to his head.
Loyter has become at least the 20th senior executive to die under suspicious circumstances in Russia since the beginning of the war.
- In September last year, the headless body of the general director of a potash and magnesium salt mining company was found.
- In August, the chairman of the board of directors of Uralkali died.
- In 2023, Vyacheslav Rovneyko, director of the Interregional Fuel Union, and Igor Shkurko, deputy head of Yakutskenergo, were found dead.
- In 2024, Lukoil vice president Vitaly Robertus was found dead with signs of suicide.
- In 2025, Transneft vice president Andrei Badalov fell from a balcony.
