@RaiderTy92 Texas Tech essentially met with Sorsby after they were alerted he bet on games and said literally this Hocutt: “As we have said before, we do not believe that the circumstances of Brendan’s case warranted permanent ineligibility”

Cincinnati essentially met with Sorsby after they were alerted that he bet on South Korean turtle racing, said, “Hey, don’t do that.” Sorsby was like, “Ok, trust me bro.,” and Cincy was like, “Ok, here are some HR videos on gambling.” Then played him for 2 seasons. 😭
On3@On3

NEW: Brendan Sorsby's agent, Ron Slavin, claims Cincinnati knew about the gambling addiction and took no action: “If anybody should be questioned or catching heat, it should be Cincinnati. Because they knew for two years and never said anything or didn’t do anything about it. That’s the part of the story that gets lost.” (via @1053thefan) on3.com/news/brendan-s…

@flatland_sports Right. Because we all know Texas Tech administrators felt Sorsby should still play So I wouldn’t be ragging on Cincinnati.

He's getting treatment and will receive support from Texas Tech for the rest if his life. In the 22 minute video that everyone brags about not watching but thinks they know what was said, Kirby Hocutt stated that Brendan Sorsby has aspirations to play in the NFL and they intended to help him achieve that. Which is exactly what they did.

@flatland_sports Already did. Tech still wanted to play Sorsby even though the NCAA has CLEAR RULES in place for gambling. Tech admins made us apparent they don’t agree with those rules So where’s your “rebuttal”? Either you won’t respond or you’ll give a dumb answer.

@road_raiders Kick both tech and cincy out. One played a known degenerate gambler the other went on record saying he should still play despite being a degenerate gambler

For 2 weeks, the media crucified Tech over conduct that happened elsewhere. Now that Cincy allegedly knew for years, kept playing him, and may have reported him only after he left, suddenly Sorsby alone is responsible? Fuck that. Burn that irrelevant shit school to the ground.
John Kurtz@jlkurtz

Totally on board with a full investigation into what Cincy did or didn't know. Completely warranted. It's a good move from his agent to deflect here, but also, if anybody should be questioned or catching heat, it's his client.

Is everybody who works in college athletic departments bad at comms?
Pete Nakos@PeteNakos

Cincinnati statement to @On3: "We will reiterate what we have said before. All of our student-athletes receive extensive gambling education multiple times throughout the year, and we would never knowingly play an athlete who violated NCAA sports wagering regulations. If we ever became aware of impermissible wagering, we would report to the NCAA and comply with sanctions." on3.com/news/brendan-s…

@Cyclonefury01 You commented on my post, so you can get lost. We heard your cries for over a week as you all led a witch hunt to ruin a young man’s life for some stupid choices that harmed NO ONE when he was 18 & first away from home. You’re the ones who should be ashamed. Sincerely.

So we just gonna let this get walked back now so the school facing these allegations can proceed undisturbed with a QB playing under an injunction after the NCAA ruled him ineligible? Come on ppl, those pitchforks must still be handy; aren’t you outraged? … Of course you’re not.
On3@On3

NEW: Clemson's Dabo Swinney to @Clowfb on the Ole Miss tampering allegations involving Pete Golding and LB Luke Ferrelli: "I’m not trying to get anybody in trouble. It’s not about a certain player or anything like that. It’s more: Can we do this? Is this allowed? Can an NFL team right now call up the backup and say, ‘Hey, come on over here even though he’s got a contract?’ And so in our world, I think there just needs to be clarity of what we can and cannot do." on3.com/news/one-down-…

@EdwardPBertram Fuck off. Any school that had their athletic director say they don’t believe a player who gambled in their own team deserves a permanent ban is not a reputable university Iowa State had this situation with their starting QB. They dismissed him IMMEDIATELY ($5 bet, too)

@Cyclonefury01 And getting him help, trying to save a young life. We said all along he may never play and his recovery was the priority. Yes, students diagnosed with mental illness and addiction are offered HELP at Texas Tech, and I think it’s absolutely incredible & couldn’t be prouder.

@Cyclonefury01 You think doing something illegal and lying is the same as being open/honest and going through appropriate channels to obtain legal permission while ensuring the illegal conduct has ceased?

Cyclone@Cyclonefury01·
@ChrisMWilliams So Cincy doesn’t report his gambling and Tech’s administration said gambling on your own team should not lose permanent eligibility. Sounds like two schools have a lot of explaining to do Meanwhile Iowa State handled this same situation with actual integrity

@Cyclonefury01 You’re welcome to that opinion. I don’t agree, but nothing else in recent history has been more talked to death. You got what you wanted, still pushing is childish & I’m done responding. My post about an actual current issue provides a good outlet for all that anger, check it out
