In an attempt to ANNEX southern Lebanon, Israel is now setting up fortifications & creating a so-called “buffer zone” between Israel & Lebanon. Israel is already ILLEGALLY occupying about 8% of Lebanon’s territory.

You cannot remove all of the highly enriched uranium, nuclear grade, in Iran without going into the tunnels and facilities deep underground to get it.  I don't know what the administration's plan is, but I am guessing this is at least one reason why there are public reports that some of the special forces are being called up and deployed.  For Nancy Mace to say no ground troops or I won't support the war effort is, to me, utterly irresponsible.  The administration is not talking about amassing troops for some big ground campaign, according to public reports.  Mace is now running for governor of South Carolina.  I have never been a fan for several reasons.  I trust the president to make prudential decisions in the military campaign, as he already has.  His use of the military in Iran and Venezuela has been brilliant and precise.

Johns Hopkins professor is clueless. Israel already withdrew from Lebanon in 2000 and UN certified it was in compliance with UNSC Resolution 425. Lebanon never disarmed Hezbollah since, has launched war on Israel twice, in 2006 and 2024. Lebanon, not Israel, is in violation of UNSC resolutions 1559, 1701 for the disarmament of Hezbollah. Israel is not in violation of any UN resolution on Lebanon, is constructing a buffer zone in self defense. Whenever Lebanon enforces Security Council resolutions, Lebanon can get its territory back. Until then, Israel is withing its right to defend its territory and citizens, with a buffer zone or without one.

We’re all focused on the oil/fuel “crisis” of the here and now stemming from the conflict between the US and Iran… But let’s actually look down the road at ANOTHER pending crisis: Corpus Cristi TX is running out of water… and that is going to screw up Jet Fuel (amongst other petroleum products)… and the clock is speeding up. Corpus Cristi is one of the US’s largest industrial ports. A meeting at City Hall about a month ago reported that the city needed around 60 million gallons of NEW water a day by November this year. Since then TWO of the cities three main reservoirs have dropped below 10% of total capacity, and could run completely dry within 60 days, or the end of May. The city is reviewing mandatory Level One water restrictions with a 25% cut to all residents and businesses for implementation in the next two or three weeks. Governor Abbott issued emergency orders to bypass permitting processes to fast track new water sources, and allowing the city to continue drawing 40 million gallons of water a day from Lake Texana and the Texas Commission on Environment Quality (TCEQ) fast tracked permitting for new wells in the county to supply the city… But the lake is running dry and about to enter “extreme drought conditions.” The Root of the Problem: For the last decade, Corpus Cristi courted Refineries, Natural Gas Terminals, and Petrochemical Facilities, promising that there would be plenty of water for industrial use. The whole plan rested on a planned seawater desalination plant that would produce 30 million gallons of fresh water per day, which was backed by over $750 million in state loans… Then last year, the City Council killed the desalination plant project, with NO backup plan. The former director of the city’s water department called it “the very worst scenario I’ve ever seen.” Why it Matters: Corpus Christi is a massive hub for petroleum processing, primarily anchored by Valero and Flint Hills Resources. The city has a total crude oil refining capacity of nearly 1 million barrels per day (bpd).   Based on standard Gulf Coast refinery yields—where jet fuel typically makes up about 8% to 10% of total output—Corpus Christi produces an estimated 80,000 to 100,000 barrels of jet fuel per day. That’s: - ~15% to 17% of the jet fuel produced in the state of Texas per day. A significant portion of this fuel is routed directly via pipeline to major airports in Dallas (DFW and Love Field), Austin, and San Antonio. (Texas has 32 active refineries with a combined capacity of roughly 5.9 million bpd. Corpus Christi’s 1 million bpd footprint means the city is responsible for roughly a sixth of the state's total petroleum and jet fuel processing.) - ~5% to 6% of total US Jet Fuel production  - ~1.2% of the total Global Jet Fuel Market When the water runs dry… Refineries Stop. DFW alone is the SECOND busiest airport in the US, and THIRD busiest Globally (based on both passenger throughput and take-offs/landings). There’s already a pinch in the Jet Fuel market due to the closure of the Straight of Hormuz. Now, add on top a looming disruption to fuel supplies at a top three global airport. Put it all together: Corpus Christi has between two to eight months to come up with 60 million gallons of water PER DAY, before it throughs another wrench in the current global fuel nightmare.

Netanyahu has occupied southern Lebanon — seizing territory, displacing over a million people, and using white phosphorus in civilian areas. More war crimes, alongside the genocide in Gaza, the occupation of the West Bank, and the bombing of Iran — bankrolled by the American taxpayer.

Israeli loyalists in the US get indignant at the word "genocide," even as their top leaders and elected officials in Tel Aviv have been making classic genocidal statements and vows like this one for more than two years. The best case against them are their own words and actions:

I’ve only been a Democrat for 10 months. Maybe I’ll run for President as a Democrat if only to have ONE Democratic candidate who proudly calls himself a Zionist, who’s proudly pro-Israel, who proudly supports @AIPAC (an organization dedicated to strengthening American/Israeli relations), and who understands that the ONLY obstacle to peace in the Middle East has always been Arab/Muslim refusal to accept the state of Israel. I mean, the way things are going with the Democratic Party these days, I’m sure I’d own that pro-Israel lane.
Lisa Kashinsky@lisakashinsky

NEW: More potential Dem 2028ers are distancing themselves from AIPAC. Booker won’t take AIPAC cash anymore (part of a pledge to cut out PAC $$). Shapiro, Beshear, Emanuel also say no. And there’s more. AIPAC says it won’t let pro-Israel voices be silenced. w/@ShiaKapos @politico politico.com/news/2026/03/2…
