glad this was asked. let me take a crack at explaining this: if a person with solid internet speeds/connection matches with someone who is either: 1) sporting the worst internet speed/connection ever 2) is REALLY far away from the other player or routing server or both the game's "floor" is brought down to the lowest common denominator to adjust for this. if you live in North America and have ever played anybody in Japan, Australia, Korea, etc, you know exactly how this feels. to put into perspective how insane this is, think of it like this: imagine you are playing call of duty and even though EVERYONE ELSE in the lobby has great connection, there is ONE person who has garbage internet connection so now EVERYONE has to suffer through severe delay, rubber banding, desync, and at worst - freezing. peer to peer connectivity is outdated and unfair - it has to go. it's 2026.
