@flamcheesy I agree with you, but here is what it will come down to yet again. There will be a handful of games the defense will be asked to finish. We need someone to step up and close them out, and that will be the difference between a playoff season vs not

@BengalsTalkSI Enjoyed your talk on drafting him with Jake yesterday. I think impact for prospects in different positions is hard to compare, but think about how many games the past 2-3 years the Bengals were playing with a lead and the offense/defense had to come up with one drive/stop to win

@LndsPatterson I don't love the idea, but if Reese/Bailey/Bain Jr/Downs/Styles are all gone, they should consider trading down or getting Delane. CB is a strength but getting a proven talent will still be able to come in and make an impact right away

@Fvlmer and this is the right approach, no matter what they say, do NOT have expectations they will until the GM/Ownership changes. Don't have expectations, and you won't feel disappointed about this franchise. They are who they always are

Yes, the Bengals gave out the two highest 2026 Cap Hits to APY deals. The average 2026 Cap Hit was 51% of the Average Per Year. The other teams that gave out big Year 1 Cap Hits? Raiders, Titans, Cardinals. Because they don't have a QB to pay and had tons of cap space. And it's not like the Bengals are offering less cash in year one. Their year 1 Cash to APY ratio is amongst the highest in the league. They're not saving cash. They're not saving cap. They're just limiting their 2026 team. Again.

@Andrew_Russell7 They are playing a dangerous game yet again, season will come down to 3-4 games where defense will be asked to close out a game and because of what we have seen the last 2-3 years, I wouldn't bet we see anything different

Without Trey Hendrickson on the field in 2025 the Bengals defense finished: 31st in EPA/Play 29th in passing yards/att 32nd in explosive pass % 32nd in rushing yards/att 30th in explosive run % They added Allen, Cook, Mafe. They're marginally improved imo.

@Honcho_WhoDey I agree there, getting to a top 15-20 defense is the difference of winning those tight games/closing games out when they should and those wins ultimately are what gets this team into the playoffs

If we were to build a whole new defense guys & then it took them time to learn and gel people would be mad then too. 2021 wasn’t just because of the added pieces, it was the growth of the core. Bell, Bates, Wilson, Pratt, and Hubbard had laid the foundation the year prior & grew
