@MikeMitchNH @SanAntonioTim I can’t stop thinking about how Click wanted to do analysis on the Astros return to play policy after their mishandling of Jake Meyers return from his shoulder injury. How different could the Astros seasons since gone if they had done that analysis into the handling of injuries?
English

@SanAntonioTim My thesis is pretty simple: you should hire the absolute smartest people you can find to run your MLB team, and pivoting to less intelligent people who "played the game" is a death sentence when every team is racing to the cutting edge.
We'll see if Crane learned this winter.

@Chandler_Rome @ThatIsHimmm Astros had runners on 2nd and 3rd with nobody out and then bases loaded in the inning after and failed to score in both scenarios, but Yainer is the easy scapegoat tonight
English

@ThatIsHimmm it’s April 16. they are not going to ruin his confidence by doing that, especially for a non-platoon advantage. if they had a left-handed hitter or catcher on the bench, sure.
English

I hope @Chandler_Rome questions Joe Espada is he ever thought about pinch hitting Vazquez for Diaz in the bottom of the 9th…
Espadas response will be “look at the back of Yainers baseball card against Vodnik”…
Omar Lopez will be the manager soon…

@foreverstros Wish Dana tried to stretch him out to be a starter like Ronel

Yainer Díaz is not an MLB Catcher

Josh Naylor told Mike Burrows EXACTLY what he was looking for!

@Chandler_Rome I remember reading your article in 2022 about how James Click wanted to do a deep dive into the Astros’ return to play policies. Then the Astros fired him and just swept that idea under the rug.

Cody Bolton is exiting the game alongside a trainer. He walked four of the final six batters he faced.

Joe Espada and a trainer are out to see Cody Bolton.

as we all suspected, Jayden Murray is the last man standing of the Trey Mancini trade
Thomas Nestico@TJStats
Chayce McDermott (DFA'd by BAL) has struggled with command throughout his pro career, registering walk rates north of 15% in the upper minors. A team in need of bullpen depth could take a chance on him given his array of plus pitches in hopes they can improve his strike throwing

The type of player you want under team control during his age-28 season, even if that entails not letting him bypass AAA to play a brand new position in the bigs for only a few weeks.

Cam Smith lines an RBI single on the 13th pitch of the at-bat!

The lesson on Dana is the same as it was when he got here: there is no magical "intangible scouting expertise". You're either really smart or you're roadkill in modern baseball operations.
We'll find out if Jim Crane has figured that out yet next winter.

If Imai can't pitch in the bigs, Dana Brown is a dead man.

Lance McCullers dominant… Correa playing elite defense… Altuve hitting .333… it’s like 2017 all over again! #Astros
