@LPDonovan Big difference between Trump 1 and Trump 2: he realized he doesn't need "they": a cabinet full of decorated generals and party operators. The government won't fall apart if he appoints Fox News hosts and MAGA groupies to run major agencies, and he can guarantee loyalty that way.

@mattyglesias This is why you have rich kids with extra time on tests. They pay $300/hr for 4 hours of testing and another $2K for a "report" saying their bright kid needs accommodations. If you can't pay $3200 out of pocket for a bogus note, too bad.

@mattyglesias Yes, doctors (esp. mental health) are too exclusionary and they should be a bit poorer so that more people have access to care. Almost all forms of outpatient mental health services are currently a luxury product for people who can pay out-of-pocket at near-lawyer hourly rates.

It's pretty common for psychiatrists (like AES's wife here) to decline to accept Medicare because the reimbursement rates are relatively low, but remember that Medicare For All works in part by forcing providers to accept lower reimbursement rates! freebeacon.com/democrats/abdu…

I moved from New England to Texas in 2014. It was not because I thought it was more utopian. It's because you can't get a good teaching job in New England without a Masters degree, but I immediately became in-demand at elite schools by Texas standards. Common blue-to-red story.
