@alexburns Exactly right. When it comes to managing up and making workplace compromises, usually for an NDA-shielded fat payday, there’s no better film. It’s a documentary.

@DVNJr Not even close to The Big Short. Margin Call doesnt even dig into the details of how and why they got over leveraged. You dont even know what product they over leveraged until the final 30%. Terrible. Lot of dramatic acting around a mysterious monster.

Margin Call (2011) is the best film ever made about a financial crisis— and arguably the best film ever made about the brutal truth of office politics. Jeremy Irons should have won an Academy Award for this electric, pitch-perfect performance.

@DVNJr One of my all time favourites, and this scene in particular - stuff of legends. There is also a scene where Irons says ‘it is just money Sam, it is made up, pieces of paper with pictures on it so that we don’t have to kill each other just to eat’.

@ivanhoe_normaal The tap-tap-tapping of the report by Sullivan that he hasn’t (and won’t) read. The sweep of his hand. Every slow, lingering look with those daggers-eyes.

@DVNJr His performance is out of this world. A room full of good actors and he blows all of them away. Just his body languange alone.

Ive watched this film probably 20 times, there's subtle things everywhere. Every time someone calls someone, they say first name who? Then when people try to open up about something personal, there's a complete lack of humanity within them, they simply dont care. Like the dying dog, he explains how much it's costing him to keep his dog alive and the other worker is saying a fake sorry then is like...they're all ready for ya. Very dark, soul-less place.

@DVNJr It’s the best and he’s incredible, though part of me always hears Scar and is waiting for “But thick as you are, pay attention!”

@DVNJr It's a great film but personally I think Jeremy Irons, who I universally love, offers one of his weakest performances. The slack jawed southern yokel approach to the role grated with the other characters and the delivery of his lines with an accent he can't quite nail was jarring

Javier Bardem. We don’t marvel enough that this man played these two characters back to back.
