Little known fact….deal almost didn’t happen because Bob Scheffing and Whitey Herzog wanted to include Teddy Martinez in deal rather than Tim Foli. Gil Hodges strongly objected and convinced them to make the trade. Gil died before having chance to manage Rusty.
