@JesseGarciasae1@UCLAMBB@UCLAAthletics This one. Gail Goodrich, Kenny Washington, and Keith Erickson. Yeah, I’m old!😄 But was only 10 back then. Super fun team to watch!
First two NCAA spring sports championships have gone to USC (beach volleyball) and UCLA (women’s water polo). Pac-12 continuing to strut to the graveyard.
Yesterday at a funeral service a pastor spoke of the comfort we can have knowing that Jesus will come soon and that for the dead the time between death and the his coming (and our eternal reward) will feel like a moment. He compared it to going to bed when one is very tired and suddenly waking up to an alarm clock. The Qur'an of course does this with the story of the "Companions of the Cave" (Surah 18)
What was intriguing to me is that Christians (including Protestants) usually think of "immediate retribution" - that the dead are with God now, adoring him and experience spiritual satisfaction already now, before the resurrection of the body. Sometimes stories of Near Death Experiences are cited to prove the case. So, what gives? Does this pastor represent a certain current of Protestant theology that believes in the "sleep of souls" and denies immediate retribution? Is that a thing? I suppose I could have asked but it was not the time or place.

@latbbolch Ok great, let’s hire Urban Meyer and get rid of Chip Kelly. And someone tell Mick Cronin to play more than 6 or 7 players in his rotation this year
UCLA athletics has released a "Fours Up" strategic plan for the next five years in which the goals are to win the most combined national and conference championships in the country while having all athletes graduate and/or go pro.
@ByPatForde I guess northwestern, Duke, and vanderbilt don’t offer any of those sports. God forbid anyone should have to leave the precious “bay area” to get an education and play sports

@revstephenfife Needs to change for sure. Iteneracy and guaranteed appointments for Elders need to go away. It's a 19th century system shoehorned into the 21st century.
Roy represented my hometown when I was in high school and was exceedingly kind to me even when I was just a 15 year old kid. My very first trip to the Senate floor was at his invitation. For the last three decades, he’s been both a mentor and friend to me and so many others. 2/
My heart hurts this morning because we’ve lost Roy Herron. Roy represented the people of West Tennessee for 26 years and never lost his fire, his faith, or his compassion. Beyond faithfully serving his constituents, he always took time to guide and mentor young people. 1/
A storm rolling through our area woke me. I looked at the clock and realized that it is now July 1st. Effective today I am officially a Global Methodist Elder. It feels odd to leave the #umc after 25 years under appointment.
One Republican — Murfreesboro Rep. Charlie Baum voted against all three expulsions today.
He took a second to explain that decision to me.
@WKRN#TNLeg23
Y'all I'm livid rn. Just got home from meeting with Rs to try to convince them not to vote out my state rep, @brotherjones_ . One of them said to my face that they were scared for their life bc of what happened at the protest. They flat out lied to my face......
Jaylen Clark said he had surgery on his leg the day after the injury but doesn’t have a timetable for recovery and doesn’t know if he’s coming back to UCLA: “That’s something I’ve got to think about, talk to my people with.”
Gail Goodrich: "This team is better than the team that went to the Final Four a couple of years ago. That team hit a hot streak and shot the ball very well in the tournament. You hope that they will be able to do that, but I think overall this team is consistently a bit better."
