Qurtubi relates an opinion that in Qur'an 2:87 the "Holy Spirit" with which God supports Jesus is not the angel Gabriel, but the Gospel/Injil that He gave to Jesus.

The theological implication, I think, is that God is both worshipper and worshipped?

Does God praise Himself? I just read this in Qurtubi's commentary on the Qur'an. He is responding to the Qur'an itself saying (in the Fatiha), "praise be to God Lord of the worlds" and since God spoke the words of the Qur'an, this is God saying "praise be to God."

Did you know before modern Christian Apologia, The "Islamic dilemma" was actually used in British India quite extensively by Christian missionaries (Sir William Muir) and Ahmad Khan wrote his commentary on the bible partly because of this accusation to harmonize it with the Quran

Sir Sayyid Ahmad Khan, in his commentary on the Gospel of Matthew (trans. C. Ramsey et al. in "The Gospel according to..."; 2020), offers an Islamic interpretation of 4:11, where John the Baptist speaks of baptism & says that he is not worthy to “take off the sandals” of Jesus.
