Led by EU Chief Negotiator Hiddo Houben and Malaysian Chief Negotiator Dato Mastura, negotiators from both sides met in Brussels from 9 to 13 February for friendly and constructive exchanges which moved us closer to our joint goal of an FTA that is a win-win 🏆

The EU and Malaysia just finished a 3rd round of negotiations for an ambitious and comprehensive FTA 💪📑

Inspiring & productive meeting with Dato’ Seri @AmirudinShari, Menteri Besar of Selangor, a key EU partner in 🇲🇾 with EU firms active from aerospace, automotive & semicon to energy & pharma—creating jobs & opportunities for local suppliers. We agreed to deepen this partnership.

4/ At Universiti Malaysia Sabah (@UMS_EcoCampus), discussions on Erasmus+ participation highlighted how EU–Sabah cooperation also strengthens education, skills and people-to-people ties—investing in long-term resilience and shared prosperity.

3/ The EU’s engagement in Sabah is comprehensive. I discussed this with Honorary Consuls of EU Member States, EU business representatives, and had an in-depth exchange with local civil society, whose role is vital for inclusive development.

1/ On 3–4 February, I visited Sabah 🇲🇾 and was honoured to meet Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sabah, Tun Musa Aman, and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor. Our discussions underlined a clear message: the EU is a reliable, long-term and substantive partner of Sabah and Malaysia. 🇪🇺🤝🇲🇾
