Dry needling as an intervention doesn’t make much sense. According to the totality of evidence, it doesn’t outperform things like exercise and manual therapy. If that’s the case, then why stick a needle in anyone?

@nrlphysio Slight change of direction involved. The hamstrings ability to manage subtle rotational fprces is a commonly missed aspect of hamstring care.

Herbie Farnworth has been ruled out after suffering a hamstring injury - textbook sprinting mechanism with no contact (“sniper got him”). Usually tough to predict severity of soft tissue injuries just by video, but considering high speed mechanism + function loss concern for moderate to high grade strain & 1-2 month recovery here.

Great appointment by @WelshRugbyUnion with Matt Sherratt. Great guy, thoroughly deserved. I think this would be a great chance to put the band back together……

@tomgoom Interesting that they used static stretching as a control group. The aetiology of LL injuries would suggest increased predominance of tendon issues that stretching often aggravates.

Perfect Hyperextension mechanism for a hamstring injury. Interesting to hear that he’s had a couple of previous this season. Interestingly, the movement pattern looks dodgy. Obvs people will talk about trunk hip flexion and knee extension, but a wonder about the MPs.
