A 🧵: Today, the team at @CCS_Advocacy and I are launching our new report on #palliativecare in Canada. It was a ton of work, and there are a number of key findings that I want to raise.
Canadian Cancer Society@cancersociety

Our new report shows that Canada lacks capacity to consistently deliver #palliativecare. Most provinces have out-of-date plans while others don’t have any plan in place. And almost all provinces have fewer hospice beds than recommended.

If you want to talk about someone who is best in show, from SCTV to Schitt's Creek, it's Catherine O'Hara. God the news today sucks.

The passing of @KirstyDuncanPhD is a deep loss for Canada. Her leadership in strengthening our research ecosystem - including championing women in science - and improving cancer control leaves a lasting legacy. Her story inspires us to keep pushing for better prevention and care.

"We are never going to be the 51st state," Ontario Progressive Conservative House Leader Steve Clark tells the legislature as he justifies a late return of the house next year. Not really sure what the link is. MPPs will not return until March 23. #OnPoli

I was so proud to be a part of this event. When you've been through #palliativecare for yourself or a loved one, you know how valuable and how dignified the care is, and that everyone deserves access to that approach to care. Go to cancer.ca/palliativecare to join our advocacy!

Last week, the #PalliativeCare Coalition of Canada hosted a Breakfast on Parliament Hill. To educate and advocate to #cdnpoli decision makers on the urgency of renewing our investment in palliative care in Canada, we brought the experience of community palliative care to them. Despite being one of the early adopters, Canada ranks just 40th in the world in palliative care. We need to keep investing to ensure everyone in Canada has access to the palliative care they deserve. @gigtripper86 The ensemble up and down the cast list are clearly having the best time and it deals with religion and politics in a clever but not overwhelmingly preachy way. It is an excellent roller coaster ride.

I won tickets to see the premiere of Wake Up Dead Man: A #KnivesOut mystery at #TIFF, and I don't think I have ever gotten a better prize from a contest before. It's such a wild ride, and I can't wait to talk about it with everyone I know.

I’ve been incredibly lucky to never have to write one of these terrible posts, but the luck ran out today. This is my final week at Yahoo Sports. (Honestly, I'm lucky to have survived the Montee Ball fiasco of 2013—every day since has been a gift.)

Earlier this week, we stood with @CdnCaregiving, @OntCaregivers, @AlzheimerOnt, @MSCanOfficial & @yngcaregivers in support of @Wayne_Gates' motion for an Ontario Caregiver Support Benefit. Cancer costs the average patient and their loved ones nearly $33,000 in their lifetime. Caregivers like Hiba - who shared the emotional and financial toll of caring for her mother and grandmother through their cancer experiences - need accessible financial support. Better caregiver support means better care for cancer patients - keeping them out of hallways and off waitlists. We call on the Ontario government to support this motion and give caregivers the recognition and care they deserve.
