You can choke, come up clutch, even fail simple things because of nerves. The "stakes" are your time, your effort, and the glory of victory.

What's your opinion about lives on video games?

@MitchValentine4 @J19_Gaming89 I liked them too and loved seeing everything remade in such great graphics. I just think they really bastardized the tone and story. I will still play part 3 and its ok but What Could Have Been haunts me

@DankFizzy @J19_Gaming89 I am torn, I loved Rebirth and Remake in so many ways. Damn it feels amazing to play my favorite game in a modernized package. It also hurt to experience the extra cringey stuff that was added. I preferred the darker, ominous and mysterious tone of the original. It can be fixed

@MitchValentine4 @J19_Gaming89 Lol a lot of these weren't bad in a vacuum, it's just the game has sooo much comic relief and comedic moments. Jokey characters, Cloud talking to a chocobo etc, they got way too carried away. A couple sure, but theres too many to count

@rdrcowgirl @skullyz_z @chainsawrezi 0 really punishes you for unknowable decisions. Taking Billy instead of Rebecca, going the wrong way and having to double back. Its the only RE game I routed and did dummy runs/reloaded saves to play optimally, just to beat it not for any special challenge

this game is the ultimate roadblock to me. i tried it like 3 times only to never beat it. its so frustrating for reasons i literally cant articulate

@rdrcowgirl @skullyz_z @chainsawrezi Ive done knife only runs, beat invisible mode on RE1R, I can sleepwalk through any old RE and I definitely rank 0 hard mode as the toughest. Maybe its my playstyle or something. Ive reached the final boss without enough ammo twice. Lol. I did beat it multiple times by now but yea

@DankFizzy @skullyz_z @chainsawrezi i've seen people saying the same thing and i don't mean to discredit u but it's still really hard for me to believe it. i'm one of the resident evil players with the most skill issues known to men and i had no troubles with resident evil 0 the first and second time i've played it

@skullyz_z @rdrcowgirl @chainsawrezi They reacted to dumb complaints that the item box was unrealistic. Then 0 gives you soo many items its like throwing it in your face. Even boxes that didn't connect would've been better, with the option to leave items on the floor. No boxes was just annoying.

@skullyz_z @rdrcowgirl @chainsawrezi If you already beat 1, 2, and 3, you should be prepared to have multiple saves. It's certainly not modern at all but at the time, I saw it as Well I fucked up, now I know that can happen. Should've kept multiple saves. And restarted my file.

@DankFizzy @rdrcowgirl @chainsawrezi Its not a skill issue when the game tells you non of this. thats just bad design that has nothing to do with it being hard. the game should not hold your hand but there should no reason you should be going to a far back save because the game gave you no information.

@skullyz_z @rdrcowgirl @chainsawrezi Yet those factors make playing 0 efficiently the toughest game, the most challenging. Trapped on a deserted island, its the game I'd bring because mastering it would be the most difficult of any old-school RE

@skullyz_z @rdrcowgirl @chainsawrezi The worst to me is 0, backtracking to retrieve your own items constantly off the floor. Most egregious when they require the hookshot in the church, and backtracking fills the area with eliminators.

When you restart you now must lock in to reach the 4th level with more lives. Its tense, you are scared to die again. Thats the point.

@rob3rto19999 @MEkanem54456 @3Caramelg122 @SonicHacki There's no "stake" it's just stress and there's absolutely no actual difficulty it's just pointless restarting of the entire level that doesn't add anything The actual difficulty should come from the game itself and failing to beat it until you get better

@skullyz_z @rdrcowgirl @chainsawrezi CV is not like that tho. Zero I agree has a lot of BS runbacks. I still qualify it as Hard though not just tedious. CV I'm struggling to remember such moments. Give an example of what you are talking about.

@DankFizzy @rdrcowgirl @chainsawrezi idk why people continue to conflate "hard" with "tedious" runbacks are not hard and so is not item boxes, they just pad the game out and just makes it not fun as their is no real difficulty. Bad game design like monkys that are shit with tank controls is not hard ether.

@skullyz_z @rdrcowgirl @chainsawrezi They are built on the expectation that people had been playing RE games for 5 years already. Obviously the difficulty needed to evolve. It's a shame that many series seem to get easier with later entries, like Mario. RE got harder with each game. 0 hard mode is no joke.

@rdrcowgirl @chainsawrezi i think both 0 and CV are good games for the narrative, but they are some of the worst games to recommend to thoes who are trying games with tank controls as they missed the mark with making it just more tedious.

Demon's Souls, Mario RPG, Metal Gear Solid 3...all 1:1 remakes. Reviewed well, sold well. Completely forgotten about less than a month after release What was a criticism they shared? That they were the same games we've played before If FF7R was 1:1 it would've had the same fate

@BeingBadAtMaths @Supernerd471 His voice is distractingly abysmal. It's a character assassination that ruins Red entirely. He tried to act mature for his age, I can understand that. Completely faking his gay voice to sound like a wise man makes him far more deceptive and weak minded than depicted in the OG.
