@Final_Word_Pod After this debacle who would pay £0000's to fly over for the Sesquicentennial test match? With a pink ball to boot! Could be over by tea on Day 1.

@MichaelTakeMP Once again trickle down has been confused with nicking off. Overly re-distributive batting.

There is only one person responsible for England’s appalling performance in The Ashes and that person is RACHEL REEVES. By raising income tax in her budget she has put unbearable fiscal pressure on our top order batters. She also blatantly lied about Bazball. She MUST resign! 😡

@benjonescricket Nibbling can be harder for batting than jagging. Nick rather than miss. Harder to cover up outside the line. And easier for bowlers to control. Or does the data say otherwise?

Pre-empting any chat here: all the tracking data for this Test is normal, in some areas less movement than is typical for Lord's. We've seen some very consistent, accurate bowling and some *extremely* average batting under pressure.

@TheCricketerMag @GeorgeDobell1 Well, our group had a great day and are eagerly looking forward to the next test at Trent Bridge. Lovely batting, especially by Pope. One sided cricket is not exactly a rarity. Ask the Aussies about Ashes series Down Under.

Absolutely fantastic to host this event with @JillLTimms. Super engagement from the cut flower industry.

@icelandcricket Fine leg. No catches ever go there. Only leg byes and deflections off the keeper. Pointless position. But if you move them elsewhere the keeper promptly becomes incapable of stopping legside deliveries and looks like you've eaten their hamster as the ball trickles for 4 byes.

Why do First Class matches played in September start at 10:30am but Tests stick to 11am? Thought we overcame this challenge during the pandemic summer. Thought wrong. #ENGvSL

@collinsadam It is the same box of balls for both teams. And there seemed to be a problem with the durability of the match balls in that series, so not just an issue of batters' reward for smacking it about. Definitely needs to be standardisation of replacements though. All good fun really.

I still reckon it’s most likely that the ball in the box last year at The Oval was from the magical 2018 batch. I am not a crank.

@johnwright15 @thehundred There don't appear to be many kids at Old Trafford this week. Or even many under 30s. There needs to be a joined up strategy for broadening the game's appeal.

No test matches starting in Aug 2025 in the UK again . With 5 match series squeezed into six weeks. No Indian players play in the @thehundred . Seems even when the best sides tour red ball cricket is an inconvenience for the height of the summer when kids are off school #ENGvIND #ENGvSL

@AnnieChave @onedaycup The ECB have missed a trick. The Hundred and @onedaycup complement each other very well and should be promoted together. Games at Rugby School were a lovely throwback to the JPL which grew the game in 70s and 80s.

THREAD: CRICKET'S MOST FAMOUS RUN OUT...AND ITS FAIRYTALE AFTERMATH It is a cruel dismissal, but the run out is part and parcel of cricket, and has played a role in some historic matches - the Tied Test! But the most famous of them all? It happened on July 29, 1977 Trent Bridge.
