Australia’s National Press Club now - censors speakers - bans media who the guests disapprove of - ejects critics. Time to sack the board, and replace them with people who are actually committed to free speech and remember when journalists held people in power to account.

It was grievance politics running on dodgy numbers, culture war panic and emotional shortcuts. Australians deserve better than a speech where the slogans do more work than the facts”
