So weird, that movie WEAPONS. I’d gotten the impression from the promotion campaign & (planted/viral-marketing?) rumors that ‘Jordan Peele fired his management team for not getting the script’ &c that it’s this serious, thought-provoking horror film
instead it’s just HILARIOUS
I mean yeah, it’s a ‘horror film’ but barely. Mostly it’s super wacky, kind of a horror parody, several LOL moments. and Amy Madigan got the Oscar for that? not that she was ‘bad’ in that role but.. it’s like giving the Oscar to Pee Wee Herman
What am I missing what is going on

You’re adding a detail that I wasn’t aware of, that is “interesting data”. You give me new info and I add it to my mental picture of the place. I was actually there once, I watched OUATIH when it was released and I found the place cute. I learned afterwards from news and a documentary that it was a very “sexually active” place. What else can I say?

I see casualty figures in Ukraine, old men and children drafted etc but have a hard time squaring this with the war footage. It's just the odd skirmish or drone attack. 500k dead without one vast corpse-strewn battlefield? Hoping the numbers are off...

These numbers are very hard to wrap one’s head around. Where are the videos of the massive battles? Typically we only get drone footage of some poor lone sod being chased across a field. Weird air of unreality about it all.

It breaks my heart to watch WW2 movies these days. The world they fought for is gone. My great nonno was right to make his two sons leave Italy for Argentina before it began. Benvenuto was a visionary. It would have been a different story if they listened to Patton, but OSS had other ideas… (don’t get me started).
