So the families will never know if the kid was even part of the AI photo. I'm not defending him, I just don't like people accused of stuff they never did.

NEW: Middle school teacher accused of using AI to generate CSAM of kids between the ages of infant & 12 years old before pleasuring himself to the images at work.
47-year-old Matthew Lund was a science teacher at Andersen Middle School in Omaha, Nebraska.
Prosecutors say they found 423 artificially generated images.
"[There are] 104 files consistent with CSAM … depicting ranging from infant to approximately 12 years old," prosecutors said.
"The defendant then admitted to generating the [CSAM] of prepubescent children and m*sturbating to them while at work, at which he is a middle school science teacher."
Lund is facing a maximum sentence of 50 years.
Horrific.

@BL00DYC4NDY_ @CollinRugg OK, if the source of the imagine reflected real people then fine I understand. But If it didn't, and they were random composts of human features, then no actually harm is possible. My concern is how far will courts take things.

@Dayions @CollinRugg Ai shouldn't so that makes it okay? Even assuming the AI only had sources of clothed kids, the real children who really exist were being generated in sexual situations. And it can cause life ruining trauma for those kids and families. That's the involvement. And a federal crime.

@BL00DYC4NDY_ @CollinRugg The AI shouldn't have naked kids as source, so it's got to be combined stuff. They only said he had AI stuff, So who is Feeding the AI source? The issue is if no actually kid was involved at all, his crime is what? Sick Art creation? That's not a crime.

@Dayions @CollinRugg Who was harmed? The kids being used as source material. If he drew it it'd be different, unless he drew it using a real reference, in which case its not any different.
But yeah 50 years is too much, he should have been shot on the spot.

South Africa won’t allow Starlink to be licensed, even though I was BORN THERE, simply because I am not Black!
We were offered many times the opportunity to bribe our way to a license by pretending that a Black guy runs Starlink SA, but I have refused to do so on principle.
Racism should not be rewarded no matter to which race it is applied.

Why Elon Musk is RIGHT to fight South Africa’s racist rules blocking Starlink? Imagine this: Long ago, South Africa had very unfair laws called apartheid. They treated Black people badly and kept them from good jobs and money. When those bad laws ended, the country made new rules (called B-BBEE) to help Black people get a fair share of business. The idea was good – like a big helping hand. But now? For companies like Starlink to sell fast internet, they MUST give away 30% of their business to Black partners. Just because of skin color. Elon Musk was born in South Africa. He left as a teen to chase big dreams. Today, his company SpaceX wants to bring Starlink – super fast satellite internet – to South Africa. But the rules say no unless they give up part of the company. Elon said it right: “Starlink is not allowed because I’m not Black.” SpaceX promised to spend about $30 million (that’s 500 million rand!) to give FREE high-speed internet to 5,000 rural schools. That helps over 2.4 MILLION kids every year learn better, get jobs later, and have a brighter future. Real help for the people who need it most! Starlink already works in about 24 other African countries. Villages there now have internet for school, doctors, and business. South Africa’s villages are missing out because of these racist rules. Elon isn’t asking for special favors. He just wants fair play so Starlink can connect everyone fast. Internet = education, jobs, hope. Why hold back millions of kids over rules that pick by race and color?
