When it comes to international relations, you don’t get the luxury of ideology, you pick up the phone and you deal with reality. Albanese should already be speaking directly with the US President. A Trump presidency was always a possibility, we would say certainty. A prepared government would’ve planned for it and appointed a diplomat capable of navigating that relationship. Instead, Albanese chose Kevin Rudd, a figure hardly known for building bridges with MAGA. Australia can’t afford hesitation or missteps on the world stage. Right now, we’ve got a Prime Minister who too often brushes off serious issues as “right-wing conspiracies” instead of confronting them. That approach doesn’t cut it internationally, and it won’t go unnoticed in MAGA Washington. In uncertain times, Australia needs steady, experienced leadership. ‘There’s no skill in F1 overtaking - it’s like passing a car on the motorway’ The opening laps of the Australian Grand Prix may have been exciting, but overtaking in F1 has been stripped of its skill says Mark Hughes ❌ For Mark’s full opinion piece on the new era of Formula 1, head to our website via the link below 🔗 motorsportmagazine.com/articles/singl…

Australia is the only country that's stood by America's side in every major conflict since the Great War. Korea, Vietnam, both Gulf wars, Afghanistan, the fight against Islamic State. And now, as America and Israel strike to destroy Iran's nuclear ambitions, Australia is doing nothing. We weren't asked. We weren't consulted. We weren't even advised. Albanese eventually conceded that Australia supports preventing Iran from getting a nuclear weapon. But he won't lift a finger to bring it about. Everything is about political management, nothing is about national security. Read my latest at The Tony Abbott Newsletter: tonyabbott.au/p/albanese-wea…

Okay. No PR bullshit here. I just watched qualifying and I have to say that these new power units are focking shit. Lifting and coasting on straights is the opposite of what F1 is about. Whoever came up with this needs to be sacked. Immediately.

Americans are being killed in the street by their government. Our Constitution is being shredded and our rights are dissolving. Resist. Senate Dems should block ICE funding this week. Activate the National Guard. We can and must stop this.

An English correspondent of mine writes, "What Trump said about NATO soldiers has whipped up people into a rage here in Britain. The usual Trump act is one thing; it's quite another to insult the families of the dead and mutilated. This has now got to the stage where I have started to see Facebook posts urging people to boycott U.S. products and use their equivalents from other places. I think this is both short-sighted and morally questionable -- Trump and his minions are not the whole of the USA -- but I worry that this will become a trend."

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson slammed Anthony Albanese’s apology at the Sydney Opera House vigil as an act of “political survival” that came “too late”. Speaking to media outside the Opera House during the national day of mourning service, the senator said she had “no time” for the Prime Minister’s response to the Bondi tragedy. Amid the turmoil of covering US politics, I’ve finally had a chance to catch up with the controversy surrounding the Adelaide Writers Festival. I was due to attend to discuss my new book on Ukraine. I’ve decided I do not want to be part of this event this year so I'm withdrawing.

The Prime Minister is supposed to represent Australians. Instead, he is ignoring them. When former Governors-General, Reserve Bank governors, business leaders, security professionals, judges, community leaders and members of his own side of politics are all calling for a Commonwealth Royal Commission, the problem is not the case for action. The problem is the Prime Minister. Australians deserve honesty. They deserve leadership. They deserve answers through a Commonwealth Royal Commission.
