72% of Somalis in England & Wales live in social rented housing (ONS Census 2021). That's over 4x the national average of 16.6%. No other group comes close: • Black African: ~44% • Black Caribbean: 41-48% • Bangladeshi: ~34-40% • Gypsy/Irish Traveller: ~42% • White British: ~16-17% • Pakistani: 13-18% • Indian & Chinese: ~5% Somali is a clear outlier. With continued migration and housing shortages, these numbers are almost certainly higher now. British families stuck on waiting lists while this continues.

For the purposes of fairness, I would fully support the Somalian Government deporting any British people living in Somalian social housing. They can have their Somalians, we’ll have our Brits back. A one-sided deal, that’s for sure.

@CopperCation Numrous reports on UK grooming gangs point to perps coming from Roma gypsy and Irish traveller, as well as Pakistani backgrounds. A lot of Roma have been arrested for it, but I've never heard of any specific Irish traveller gangs until this week.

This might be controversial, but we've got a very famous horse fair coming up soon round here, and everyone with sense knows not to let their daughters anywhere near the place. "Gypsy grabbing" might be sold as some quirky "courtship ritual" or myth by apologists, but there's a far darker, sinister reality to it... it's straight up sexual assault and predation. These are just the ones who got caught. There is a serious, recurring problem with sexual violence linked to certain communities, not just muslim ones, across the UK as well. I don't care if I get slated for saying it, it's long past time we stopped pretending we don't have a widespread issue with this shit.

"The words hit like a rock straight in my face..." One of the girls explains how it felt to hear Judge Rowland let her attackers walk free - and the abuse she got when footage of the attack was shared online. And her mother has a message for Prime Minister Keir Starmer...

@sfrantzman Not that it matters but most of the "grooming gang" members are in their early 20s, not middle aged men. People think this because of the Rochdale case as it was the first brought to court, but its not typical.

There could be more than words, such as compensation for the victims. Teen girls and younger seem to be a group in the UK that is systematically betrayed by authorities. The harrowing stories of the groomed gang abuses, for instance, where large numbers of girls were abused by middle aged men…and systematically ignored by authorities. Probably if the assets of all the abusers and their networks had also been transferred to the women, like all the shops, then it might have been a beginning of justice rather than what happened If the forty year old men thought they might lose their homes, businesses and cars…maybe they’d feel actual punishment rather than local councils that seemed more interested in not “offending” the men
Keir Starmer@Keir_Starmer

This is a harrowing and brave testimony. The girls at the heart of this case have shown extraordinary bravery and strength in heinous circumstances. This is an appalling case and it is right that law officers are urgently reviewing the sentences. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

>Gypsy travellers commit premeditated gang rape of a child. >It lasts 90 minutes. >They film the attacks, laugh at the child they're raping, encourage their friends to rape her, mock the child asking “why do you look sad?” >They know they won't be punished so they rape an even younger child at knifepoint, cut her clothes off with knives. >The child victims are left petrified and wanting to die. >Judge praises the gang rapists' behaviour in court. >Judge lets them walk free saying “I should avoid criminalising [the rapists] unnecessarily”. >Gives them "youth rehabilitation orders". >Other gang rapists now know that activist judges have effectively decriminalised the violent gang rape of British children. >None of this is accidental.

@rockmarooned The idea of a "Mummy movie", doesnt even make sense to me. It's like saying a "Witch movie" or a "Vampire movie". Those are story elements, not story types.

Mummy movies are essentially precursors to both possession movies and zombie movies. I wonder if that might be why a 2026 mummy movie reminds you of those things! 🤔🤔🤔

@SonnyBunch This doesn't sound like something I'd want to watch, however the criticism that it's not an authentic "mummy movie" is nonsensical. A Mummy is a plot element, not a story type.

LEE CRONIN'S THE MUMMY is bad and also maybe kind of repugnant. Deeply unpleasant viewing experience that also confuses mummy movies for possession films. Hateful film! thebulwark.com/p/lee-cronins-…

Lee Cronin's The Mummy is more Evil Dead than Evil Dead Rise....dare I say it even enters the orbit of Evil Dead 2013. Idk maybe Rotten Tomatoes critics just don't like things that go this hard. Go see this heinous fucking thing this weekend. Had a blast.

As somebody who watched the entire ninety years of “Mummy” movies, the most interesting thing about the “Mummy” franchise is there’s no real concept of what “a Mummy movie” is. The first film barely features wrappings. Three of the first five take place in contemporary America.
Jesse Hassenger@rockmarooned

I'm not saying LEE CRONIN'S THE MUMMY is like a modern-day take on THE MUMMY'S HAND or whatever but I do think to say it's "not really a mummy movie" betrays a stunning lack of imagination (or maybe just one too many rewatches of the 1999 one, which it indeed does not resemble).

Translating shakwa-e-jawab to any amiyyah Arabic or MENA language will get you slimed because they will think you are a secular-liberal. So many apparent ethno-religious were already solved by Timurid scholars and Mughal scholars. It's genuinely sad they didn't reach the MENA.

In my observations of muslim discourse in the MENA and in particular the maghreb, I have come to the conclusion that much of the anger, disillusionment and resentment would be solved with islamic discourse from the Turco-Persian tradition.
