I am thrilled to announce the release of my new book, 'The October 7 War: Israel’s Battle for Security in Gaza.' While I've covered numerous Gaza wars, this one has been harrowing and long. Awakened by Hamas rocket fire on October 7, 2023, I began covering the conflict from its very first day.

Since the US 🇺🇸 - Israeli 🇮🇱 operations in Iran 🇮🇷 started, more than 15 000 aistrikes happened, half by the IDF, half by the USAF Since the first day, I made around 10 different maps and gathered multiple others. Here, you can see two zones of strikes : 🧵THREAD🧵1/20 ⬇️

"Iran sees this war as having begun at least a decade or so ago, and the Gulf states played a vital role in getting Iran to where it is today. The Gulf is the problem, not just Israel or the US. Strategically reckless, but that is the plain IRGC logic."
Hassan I. Hassan@hxhassan

I’m convinced most officials & specialists are too immersed in the moment to realize a certain basic fact about why Iran is striking the Gulf. When Iran was fighting in Syria & Iraq, its field commanders & their proxies (and their ecosystems in countries of Iranian influence) always promised that the next battle would be in the Gulf. This was conveyed, explicitly or otherwise, by Qassem Soleimani and allies like Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, Hassan Nasrallah and the Assad regime. It was part of a doctrine guiding Iran’s regional strategy, not mere passing comments. (The same language that Israel began using against regional countries only recently. “Qatar is next” or “Turkey is the new Iran” etc. Iran has used that language for many years.) Now, Gulf countries look at Iran and wonder: Why is Iran hitting us when we tried to talk Trump out of striking it? Iran knows we tried our best. Iran’s action is understandable if it targeted the UAE and Saudi Arabia, but why mediators like Qatar? Yes we have US bases, yes we can scream at the US, but it still makes little sense, even from a basic divide-and-conquer strategy. But Iran sees this war as having begun at least a decade or so ago, and the Gulf states played a vital role in getting Iran to where it is today. The Gulf is the problem, not just Israel or the US. Strategically reckless, but that is the plain IRGC logic. This is clear if those officials had followed the rhetoric over the last 1-2 decades and the nitty-gritty behavior of Iran on a ground level outside Iran.

Marine landings have played a key role in US history and power projection : 70,000 Marines took part in Iwo Jima from the 5th, 4th and 3rd divisions in 1945 In 1958 US President Eisenhower ordered Marines to Lebanon. On July 15, 1958, around 1,700 U.S. Marines landed on beaches near Beirut, initiating Operation Blue Bat. 2nd Provisional Marine Force; 1st Battalion, 8th Marines and 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marines and the next day the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines arrived on 16 July In 1965 the 9th Marine Expeditionary Brigade landed in Vietnam. The 3,500 Marines landed at Da Nang During Operation Urgent Fury in 1983 in Grenada several hundred Marines of the 2d Battalion, 8th Marines of the 2nd Marine Division played a key role In the Gulf War 1991 Marines didn’t do a lot of landings, but on “29 January, the 13th MEU(SOC) [Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable)] raided the island of Umm Al-Maradim in support of ground troops with the mission for removal of Iraqi troops, equipment, and intelligence sources.” (USNI)

#BREAKING #EXCLUSIVE The US military has accelerated the deployment of thousands of Marines and sailors to help reinforce US troops in the Middle East amid the war against Iran. Four officials tell Newsmax the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group and the embarked 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit is deploying ahead of schedule from the West Coast and is expected to sail through the Indo-Pacific to the Middle East region after the Navy was ordered to surge additional fire power. The Boxer Amphibious Ready Group includes the USS Boxer amphibious assault ship—which serves as a mini aircraft carrier—and USS Portland and USS Comstock amphibious landing ships. There are roughly 2,500 Marines--4,000 total service members aboard these three amphibs. Additional Ships, Marines Deployed to Middle East | Newsmax.com

I’m confused. Didn’t Khan and his empire fade basically. Temporary success, but long term not so much? Isn’t the impact of Christianity quite larger? He’s said this before in other terms “The weak crumble, are slaughtered and are erased from history while the strong, for good or for ill, survive.”

This quote is from the American historian Will Durant. Fun fact (as shown in my upcoming book): Netanyahu and Khamenei both grew up reading Will Durant (who was and is widely popular in Iran, his STORY OF CIVILIZATION treated as a must-read classic in Persian translation)
Clash Report@clashreport

Netanyahu: It is not enough to be moral. It is not enough to be just. "Jesus Christ has no advantage over Genghis Khan. If you are strong enough, ruthless enough, and powerful enough, evil will overcome good."

@SaraHirschhorn1 In theory there are shelters in the nearby buildings . If they work in the daytime it’s also a risk. I definitely felt for them, working at night in this weather and with sirens .

We’ve had several sirens in Jerusalem over the last two hours, and I had to drive though a few of them; and I see these guys working on the electric pylons for the light rail at night, also dealing with the sirens and alerts every 20 min or so

So that means the government of Iraq is responsible for the PMF attacks on embassies and consulates and on US forces and on the Kurdistan Region Got it. Exactly what I think also.
David M. Witty@DavidMWitty1

Iraqi PM Sudani visits the PMF (Hashd) Council headquarters & says the PMF is a formal part of Iraqi security architecture & condemns attacks on PMF units. Those who say the PMF operates outside the law are either ignorant or have bad intentions. arabic.rt.com/middle_east/17…

Question : How did the Houthis keep producing and/or acquiring ballistic missiles? If they could keep firing them at Saudi Arabia and then Israel despite airstrikes from both those countries and other countries, then how will Iran’s production of, and firing of the missiles be stopped completely? Or did the Houthis just stockpile large numbers over the years from Iran? But their launch capabilities continued despite wars?
