Even if it doesn’t get full Windows, it’d be great if it could run Unity / UE and Blender, Audacity etc so you could develop games for it all on the one machine. By that I probably mean AI prompt a vague game idea, press the publish button and then sit back raking in the cash 👍

The next Xbox being able to play PC games too is going to be a great move for MS. Though imagine it won’t be able to act as a regular PC as consoles are hugely subsidised by the markup on their games and nobody would buy £2000 PCs any more.

You might think there's no point if you've done any of them before but I recommend it as Blender 5 has new features, and I really needed a refresher on the materials and UV unwrapping side of things.

Some games had the rare quality of being entirely unique, introducing concepts that had never been done before. These days, most games are variations of ideas that have existed for a long time. One of those unique-concept games that has stuck with me over the years is Marble Madness. I was instantly hooked the first time I played it. Although I wasn’t very good, the urge to return and try again was incredibly strong. It had an almost mesmerizing quality. The graphics - for 1984 - were impressive, as were the music and sound effects, which added to the “this feels very different” vibe. Most fascinating, though, were the physics: the marble reacting to slippery surfaces, bumping over ramps, and being knocked aside by the “evil marble.” It demanded real skill and patience to navigate the levels. The unique gameplay also makes it timeless in my opinion. Marble Madness looked great over 40 years ago and will still look and play great 40 years from now. The only downside was its relative shortness with only 6 levels. Mark Cerny originally wanted to create more but the memory limitations were the main reason for the small number of levels.

No idea who he is by the way, so no doubt this will be offensive to someone because his great great uncle died installing a doorbell or something and they will get me fired

I remember later playing Geoff Crammond's awesome Revs+ on Commodore 64 but my full name didn't fit so DemonJim was the handle of choice inspired by all my previous Demon Driving 🚗

It was entirely mechanical, not a screen in sight. And very noisy. Would be great to reproduce it as an app, where you can actually play with the case off and see all the mechanics and gearing.

Rather than animating in Blender thinking of modelling all the keys in physics and then just applying forces at the right time. Keys bounce a little at the top on release so not so easy to animate them all to a wav. Perhaps overkill for a Wordle clone nobody knows about.. 🤣

Having spent ages modelling one now thinking about adding a piano to the Wordermind main screen (as a nod to Manic Miner). Too bad when I recorded Fur Elise I didn't save out the MIDI version (my version is quite, quite wrong btw :D)

Actually you probably can test via App Store Connect after uploading a new build, but you can’t just test a random prototype locally on it with Xcode any more. Might be doing something wrong as I can’t even get the Simulator to run a build..

My current iPad (2016 iPad Pro) still works fine. And it runs my apps fine, yet because it won’t take iPadOS 26 I can’t actually use it for development any more or test an app on it [without downgrading macOS]. Would be great if I could put Android on it.

Forcing Apple to allow other app stores in the UK is ridiculous. They’ve not got a monopoly, they aren’t even the market majority, and anyone else can make a phone with their own app store.
