#Leadership Moment: When it mattered, Sadio Mane chose not mob rule but rationale nuanced thinking. Not emotional outburst, but considered response. Tonight, he defined what respect, class, and clarity look like. A true African icon. A TRUE LEADER. #AFCON2025 #LionOfTeranga

The ultra rich are hiding away colossal wealth in offshore accounts. Oxfam's 2026 investigation shows untaxed wealth by the richest 0.1% exceeds the entire wealth of the poorest half of humanity (4.1 billion people)--more than the GDP of France downtoearth.org.in/governance/unt…

Our economic system is broken. Climate crisis accelerating. Inequality deepening. Public trust crumbling. Wealth concentrates while governments scramble to fix what markets can't do, rather than shape them from the outset. Presenting my new book The Common Good Economy live at @HowToAcademy—a reimagining of economics and a manifesto for a future economy that serves people and planet. How we achieve collective goals—through participation, reciprocity and reward-sharing—matters as much as what those goals are. 2 June | 19:00 | St Martin-in-the-Fields | Ticket link below

The @UN General Assembly has finally taken a historic step: 122 nations have recognized the transatlantic slave trade as the gravest crime against humanity, a truth long demanded by survivors’ descendants and advocates across the world. This resolution, led by #Ghana, matters because the legacy of slavery is not past; it continues to shape racial injustice, inequality, and discrimination today. It acknowledges the brutal abduction, exploitation, and systemic dehumanization of more than 12.5 million Africans, and affirms that the world can no longer look away from the enduring consequences of this atrocity. By calling for reparations, accountability, and a global commitment to truth and healing, this vote is a powerful reminder that justice delayed is not justice denied. This resolution is more than symbolic. It is a demand for moral clarity, historical truth, and global responsibility. The world must not only remember, it must act.

The U.N. General Assembly has adopted a draft resolution that unequivocally condemns the trafficking of enslaved Africans and the transatlantic slave trade as the most inhumane and enduring injustice against humanity. 123 in favour 3 Against (USA, Israel, Argentina) 52 abstentions The resolution also seeks to recognize the profound and lasting impacts of the abhorrent regimes of slavery and colonialism and emphasizes that claims for reparations represent a concrete step towards remedying historical wrongs against Africans and people of African descent. #sabcnews

China–SA agricultural cooperation enjoys a solid foundation & broad prospects. China is SA’s 7th largest export market for agricultural products globally and its largest in Asia. In 2025, SA’s agricultural exports to China reached $720 million. Starting from May 1, 2026, China will implement comprehensive zero-tariff treatment for SA, creating new opportunities for SA’s agricultural products. We are ready to deepen agricultural cooperation with SA, and welcome more South African companies to explore opportunities in the Chinese market.
