“I CAN’T BREATHE” Hampshire Police has issued a public apology: "We apologize that Henry was handcuffed and arrested at the moment he was losing consciousness. “We were lied to by the perpetrator” Sorry doesn’t cut it. Sorry isn’t good enough. Still, neither the court nor the police have yet released the camera footage. The Indian killer; Vickrum Digwa, called the police instead of an ambulance & lied, saying that it was Henry who attacked him, that he was drunk, insulted him with racist remarks & knocked off his turban. A civilization begins to weaken when its leaders can follow instructions but cannot make decisions. A graduation ceremony should teach young people that achievement deserves dignity. Instead, Centennial High School gave them a lesson in institutional stupidity. Four years of work ended with students sitting soaked in the rain because someone treated a “Rain or Shine” policy like sacred law instead of using basic judgment. This is how societies lose their ability to think. Rules become excuses. Policies replace common sense. Adults hide behind procedure while children pay the price. The issue was never the rain but that no one in charge had the courage to say, “This is ridiculous. Move it inside. Delay it. Protect the students.”

When I worked at Sears in the early 90's, the people there built entire lives off those jobs. The guy running appliances had three kids, coached little league every weekend, and retired after 32 years with a pension. One of the women in customer service bought her first house working full-time there, and the older guy in hardware took the same vacation to the Ozarks every summer because he could actually afford to unplug for a week. The managers knew everybody by name, the Christmas bonuses actually meant something, and the store was packed every holiday season because business was booming. Nobody thought they were "stuck" working retail - it was honest work that paid enough to live with dignity. Somewhere along the way, corporations started making record profits while the people keeping the place running could barely afford rent. When exactly did a steady full-time job stop being enough to build a normal life?
