We urge the international community to stay vigilant in light of the ‘mobilization exercises’ currently underway in Belarus's Grodno region. From June 20 to July 2, the military commissariat of the Oshmyany district is notifying approximately 2,000 conscripts and setting up preliminary assembly points. While officially categorized as routine data verification, these actions serve as a tactic of intimidation toward neighboring states. The Belarusian leadership shows no intent to de-escalate. Instead, Minsk is increasing its military presence near the borders of Ukraine and NATO countries. This strategy aligns with Kremlin interests, using political blackmail that directly contradicts the Belarusian leadership's public statements regarding peace. Ukraine continues to closely monitor Belarusian activities, reiterates its warnings to Minsk against deepening involvement in Russian aggression, and urges the international community to increase pressure on the Lukashenko regime.

The current population of Crimea and Sevastopol (these are two separate jurisdictions) is roughly 2.5 million people. This includes between 500 and 800k illegal settlers who moved in after the Russian occupation in 2014. Meanwhile, some 200k Crimeans — including senior officials in the Ukrainian government and military, Tatars, ethnic Ukrainians and ethnic Russians — escaped to mainland Ukraine since then. Some 250k Crimean Tatars live in Crimea, but supporters of Ukraine remain in all communities, as evidenced by frequent arrest of alleged Ukrainian saboteurs. A few months without fuel and electricity, and with the tourism industry collapsed, may convince some of these settlers to go back to Russia.

The Ukrainian blockade of Crimea is increasingly effective. There is no fuel for sale on the peninsula, power blackouts are frequent because of strikes on power stations, and logistics increasingly interrupted by hundreds of drone attacks every day. Sevastopol is now under de-facto curfew, with restaurants and shops ordered to close at 8 pm. Children camps are being evacuated. And yet, lulled by good news on TV, ordinary Russians keep coming to vacation.
