The issue with this mindset is that men set moral standards for women. Men dropping and refusing to enforce standards is what has left us with a morally broken nation. Women know that they will get bailed out by some chump because it's "Christian" 🧵

My wife was formerly promiscuous. I was a virgin. She was then radically born-again. Committed to church, evangelized constantly, Puritan books in her bedroom, prayer journals, grief over past sexual sin, etc. We got to know each other well for over a year, dated for four months, engaged for two and a half, and didn't sin sexually with one another. Our first kiss with each other was at the altar on our wedding day (reaction pic attached!). We've been married for over five years now, and she's been the most wonderful and godly wife, mother to our three children, and homemaker you could imagine. She's more pure than most virgins, as biblical purity has less to with past sins (though they certainly matter) and more to do with one's current posture of the heart and daily decisions to honor the Lord (Matt. 5:8). We're far too quick to forget the story of the woman labeled as a known "sinner" (likely a prostitute) in Luke 7:36-50 who was washing Jesus' feet with her tears while kissing them too. The Pharisees were shocked that Jesus let a public sinner do this. Jesus responded with a parable about debts being forgiven and ended with this powerful conclusion: "Her many sins have been forgiven; that’s why she loved much. But the one who is forgiven little, loves little" (Luke 7:47). Everyone seems to highlight the benefits of virginity, and it certainly is a blessing. But we forget to highlight the benefits of being forgiven much as well. My wife knows the depths of Jesus' forgiveness more than most people, enabling her to more easily live out a life of passionate love for her Savior. A woman or man's past sexual sin matters. But what matters far more when it comes to deciding who to marry is if the person is truly born again, if their repentance is real, if they truly have a heart for Christ, if they truly follow Jesus and obey his commands. "God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong. God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world — what is viewed as nothing — to bring to nothing what is viewed as something, so that no one may boast in his presence. It is from him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom from God for us — our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption, — in order that, as it is written: 'Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.'" (1 Cor. 1:27-31) "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!" (2 Cor. 5:17)

@SychinLegacy @majoriansmusing Also from the Bible itself. The promiscuous woman who repented to Jesus himself didn’t go “sweet now that that’s over, I’m good to get a husband” But the chick who said sorry and blasted her story over social media for Christian clout is TOTALLY actually repentant

@Doc_Pox @majoriansmusing “She shouldn’t get married”. According to who? You? Because you personally don’t like things she did in the past? That’s not how any of this works. Marriage along with every other sacrament is not reserved for the sinless nor is it inaccessible to the flawed.

@SychinLegacy @majoriansmusing Is a sin and that people who do it aren’t considered marriage material. She knew what she was doing said “oops teehee I’m sowwy” and got a guy who did what he was supposed to do to settle down with. That’s a fucking horror story. And no sane and honest person thinks otherwise.

@SychinLegacy @majoriansmusing If she was truly repentant she wouldn’t seek a flowery happily ever after. In the same way as anyone truly repentant of anything wouldn’t actively skirt the consequences of the sin. It’s not like it’s a surprise that prostitution

@SychinLegacy @majoriansmusing -whatever you want, say sorry at any point, and any Christian who doesn't immediately goon to the testimony is bad or fake. That's never been how that shit works

@SychinLegacy @majoriansmusing Well in reality she shouldn't get married and if she was truly repentant she wouldn't seek it. If someone killed someone in cold blood and was truly repentant, they wouldn't ask to live happily ever after and die in peace at old age. All this does is signal that you can do-

There is no sin Christ cannot wash away. But that doesn’t change the fact that this kind of post is yet another reason why so many young men are turned off by marriage. This is not an appealing display of the union between a husband and wife. Shouting about your wife’s sexual past seems like a humiliation ritual to young men who are already struggling to find a virtuous woman. Also probably a good time to remind everyone that after St Mary of Egypt renounced her promiscuous ways, she retreated to the desert for 40 years in repentance, not took to the public square to share unnecessarily intimate details about her past sins.

@SychinLegacy @majoriansmusing In the eyes of the Lord sure. But that doesn’t mean you’re free from consequences in the living world. And me “judging” someone as not marriage material is not the same as judging them to hell.

@Lude_Nelle @BambuluMen Cause my brother knew I'd beat the shit out of him if he pulled something like that. My female cousins had 0 remorse/hesitation lying on me though. One even tried ratting me out just to get attention away from her doing crazy shit (She was selling drugs in middle school).

Why would churches not be one of the most perfect places to meet a partner? You literally confirm that you have the same faith which is arguably one of the more important things to a marriage. Do people think you should wander the streets and hope your soulmate bumps into you?

@dyingscribe Just like with Amber "Oh it didn't REEEEAALLLLY matter that she was white, but look at all this racist backlash cause she's 'smart' and also now she's the 'disposable black girlfriend trope' REEEEEEEEE" They want shit to twist to their whims but will fundamentally never be happy

@dyingscribe That's the thing about people who cheer on race/gender swaps. They'll come at you and be like "well does this REEEAAAALLLY matter" and yet will still find something to be mad about.
