The Doctor IS that person who says what needs to be said no matter what people might think.

People ganged up on 'Space Babies' when it had all the strengths and failings of episodes like Season 1's 'Rose', 'End of the World' or 'Aliens of London/World War 3'. I never understood that.

Literally 90% of the whole run. Got way too much hate and I loved tuning in every week.
I feel a lot of the people saying it was a downgrade from RTD1, I honestly think people just can't look at RTD1 from an objective standpoint without it being through a rose-coloured lens.

Yes this is originating from the current hate for Russell T. Davies which I think is just downright undeserved. Criticism is totally fine, but some people are being downright childish.

I'll be honest, there is an ongoing theme that I'm seeing of people with "writer" or something along that line in their bio trashing on creatives.
I can't think of a single creative in the public eye who acts like this, except Tarantino and once Scorsese and both got flack.

I'd bring her back in the second new season if I were the showrunner, Sarah Jane in series 2/Martha in series 4 style. She deserves that.

You don't have to love RTD2 to recognise how many factors were outside RTD's control.
RTD had an original plan. But a series of circumstances outside his control forced him to pivot repeatedly. Looking at RTD2 without that context misses a huge part of the story.

Even the Reality War wasn't that bad IMO, just the circumstances surrounding it and how sad it was that Ncuti's run ended so early! But I quite liked the Ranis and giant skelly-Omega and all the UNIT stuff and seeing 15 fly around like Luke at the Battle of Hoth.

Like, even my issues with Episode 6 aside (given how badly it aged in the years since it was written), I remember turning off the tv after Episode 7 thinking "this is nearly a home run".

Are we forgetting that until The Reality War, we were pretty much in agreement that season 2 was bordering on a generational run? Now we're acting like it was the antithesis to creativity?

For example, I loved The Reality War as a episode, but the circumstances around what happened I hate, circumstances that were due to Disney's indecision. Furthermore, the issues I do have with the episode stem from the reshoots they had to do due to... you guessed it, Disney.

I'm just about certain that he did write a Christmas special script and has told him to say he didn't.
I'm also starting to suspect that so many of the larger issues over the last few years have originated from the corporate level, not the writer's room.

I LOVE this theory, but it only just misses out in working as the outbreak in TWD occurs August 25th, 2010 and Breaking Bad ends in September of that year. Meaning for the epilogue of Breaking Bad, the outbreak would've had to have already begun.
