@LSXYZ9 I agree with the last part. Like most things iteration is going to be needed for any changes. I'm more worried that chess clocks would just move the "gaming" of the time issues around without solving the problems.

I still disagree, because that argument becomes that it mightve been tried and scrapped but it could've been scrapped for poor reasons or just tried in a different situation where it didn't make sense. I have played clocked matches in MTG with pro friends and found the games infinitely more enjoyable. Which is also why I say to make the clock only exist for 3 star level tournaments, or maybe even 2 star at top8? Idk We have many game examples where historical methods were resurrected or implemented into new games and found success

This change while nice doesn't address the underlying issue - Players share a clock and some decks objectively favor grey-area slow play due to their ability to apply pressure in "turns". It also doesn't alter a players ability to control how "turns" starts by intentionally manipulating the clock. This was something that while I have always been aware of as a weathered TCG player, I didn't truly grasp its power/potential for abuse until CookieRun:Braverse Korean TCG Set1 where Yellow vs Yellow mirrors could be intentionally abused/manipulated to 'cheat' an extra combat phase over the opponent. This (unspokenly) became an intentional meta tactic because the game was Bo1 and games usually ate up 95% of the alloted time. There is nothing in these changes to prevent a player from realizing they can have an explosive 2-turn cycle and dragging the clock to a few minutes using grey-area stalling throughout the match and then waiting to look at the clock to manipulate when turns will start and then going off. If chess can set up hundreds of electronic boards and clocks, there is no reason Riot couldnt look do it as well at 3-star+ level events. Yes it adds an inconvenience having to press the clock everytime you pass priority/focus, and perhaps there is a grace period where passing priority adds 5 or 10 seconds to your timer. But this would prevent slow playing. I think people underestimate how disproportionate clock usage can be in some matches and I'd implore some people to go see cases where one player barely used 30% of the clock despite playing the "slower" deck.

@LSXYZ9 Sure, character limit on that one didn't help the point, what I was more saying is this isn't a new problem and chess clock suggestion isn't new to the space. If it worked specifically, other games would have implemented.

Solutions exist for things all the time without having been implemented or deployed. The argument that if it already existed it would be deployed isn't an argument at all, its a fallacy. The ability to make penicillin existed 1000 years ago, but no one knew how, it doesn't mean it didn't exist lol

@LSXYZ9 Mostly, people need to be more comfortable with telling their opponents to play faster the second they feel that an abnormal amount of clock is being taken. However most people are too polite/don't notice to say anything

@DoomSloth Rapid chess exists and moves are faster thus passing priority is faster and it works for chess. If yoy allow the clock to tick up 5 seconds per priority pass then its totally fine.
