@AceTrainerTerry For me, the entire appeal of the game is for it to be a one-stop-shop for Pokemon battling. It lacking a ton of Pokemon, items, and even custom rules (why???) defeats that purpose. We don’t need to defend it or act like it’s better than it is because it’s free.

Just so you guys are aware - Pokémon Champions is free.
186 Pokémon is plenty for season zero.
It's day ONE.
The battles are fun, and well animated.
The game is meant to widen competitive accessibility, not appeal the 1% of die-hard comp trainers.

They can and do have more regulations planned which would allow either a different set of pokemon or whatever. They can slowly add items, increase movepool, new cosmetics, missions, etc.

@DoctorRaven2 @AlikzHewitt @DreamyWeegee For the game to make money, there needs to be incentive for players to return and not ditch the game after a couple weeks of playing. This decision is 100% for money, not because they’re worried about new players.

@DoctorRaven2 @AlikzHewitt @DreamyWeegee The issue is that they are 100% adding more Pokemon over time. I don’t really buy this argument because there will still be new players when all Pokemon are (hopefully) in the game.
The only reason why they’re not is because the game relies on the drip feed business model.

@DopperPines618 @AlikzHewitt @DreamyWeegee I quit gen 5 more so for at the time I was expecting more from the next entry. Dragon was insanely op in gen 4, I was absolutely expected a new type to counter it and was very disappointed, also new pokemon only was lame to me. Getting back in afterwards was annoying tho.

This is one of the things I was worried about. Not the “pay walling” but people fear mongering the incoming F2P audience over incredibly basic knowledge.
You need the Pokemon games to get Pokemon: shocker. Champions was not giving anyone FREE access to 1000+ Pokemon at will.

Which gives mega emboar, and mega feraligatr, and a few tickets, VP rewards are free

Cold take: those wanting 6v6 singles in Champions are insane. Straight up, those games would be far too long. 3v3 singles and 4v4 doubles keeps things at a quick pace, great for rapid fire queuing.
It's like asking for best of 3 in Master Duel lmao
