A trial date set for 15–16 months from now versus 20 months from now makes little difference. Very few defamation cases ever reach trial anyway, dismissal or summary judgment is far more common.
The case cannot meaningfully proceed on the merits unless Mizkif properly pleads which specific statements he claims are false and why. If he requests leave to amend and clearly identifies those statements, it would significantly speed up the process.
It is like trying to litigate a theft case without ever specifying what was allegedly stolen.
Both Asmon and Emiru have been asking for months, through their court filings, for Mizkif to identify exactly which statements he claims are false and why, so that they can properly respond to the complaint.

I don’t care for Emiru if I’m being honest, but she has a bald spot likely because she has alopecia areata, which is also an auto immune disease. I was recently diagnosed with this, and my dermatologist informed me it’s likely due to stress.
It’s been hard for me to process. Women are already under such a microscope, and most of my bald spots are on the back of my head. I haven’t worn my hair up for months because of how embarrassed I am.

The point, I hope, of this change is to target the habitual viewbotters.
There are streamers on the platform who’ve botted for months, if not years, for 10s of thousands of viewers daily.
They’ve won awards.
They’ve been featured in articles.
This change is to go after those people. (I hope)

I’ve commented on this before but to be clear, Emiru didn’t “change” anything but rather clarified she was using “sexual assault” in a non-legal non-criminal manner (“emotional truth”) - if she didn’t use that specific term, Mizkif would have no case. That said, Mizkif did not legally SA her and creators who continue to say he did, or accuse him of even more heinous crimes like rape, go too far and risk defamation lawsuits as well.
