Israel is preparing to occupy southern Lebanon. 🇮🇱 🇱🇧 On 17 March, Israel announced the launch of a new ‘limited and selective’ ground operation in southern Lebanon against Hezbollah positions. The Litani River has been established as the northernmost boundary of the occupation zone, leaving the south as an area of operations (yellow) where Hezbollah’s military infrastructure is to be dismantled. However, it is possible that the area will not be fully occupied, but rather that a buffer zone several kilometres deep will be created along the border, within which new outposts and bases will be established, similar to the new buffer zone created in Syria in 2025. At present, between 40,000 and 50,000 Israeli soldiers have already been deployed along the border, whilst the number is expected to rise to approximately 75,000. However, the IDF has submitted a request to the Knesset to mobilise up to 450,000 reservists in preparation for a possible expansion of the ground operation in Lebanon. If this request is approved, then the likelihood of an occupation operation in Lebanon similar to that of 1982 is high; an occupation which, given the number of troops involved, is likely to be protracted under the pretext of combating Hezbollah and protecting the northern border. In Lebanon, news of this Israeli operation is viewed with great fear, as historical precedent suggests that a prolonged occupation would be accompanied by the destruction of infrastructure and displacement. The Lebanese government and UN agencies report that more than 1 million people (around 1,049,000 according to some estimates from 18–19 March) have been displaced as a result of the war since early March, representing around 20% of Lebanon’s total population. Israel is working to destroy the bridges over the Litani River, which will increase pressure on residents south of the river as they flee towards the area south of the Zahrani River (the Orange Zone), which has also been declared a war zone. Just over 1,000 Lebanese citizens have been killed by Israeli bombing since early March, according to the Ministry of Health, making Lebanon the country with the second-highest death toll in this new Middle East war, a figure that could rise significantly as attacks on civilian infrastructure intensify, as was seen in Gaza between 2023 and 2025.

Seems Islamic Resistance Front in Syria entered the battle against Israel...
@Suriyak@Suriyakmaps

Summary of the interview between Ayman Jawad Al-Tamimi and “Abu Mujahid”, one of the media chiefs of the Islamic Resistance Front in Syria: Uli al-Ba’s (IRFS): - The IRSF, established in February 2025, is made up of a number of groups and cells scattered across Syrian territory, but more specifically in southern Syria - The IRSF does not receive support from the resistance axis (Iran and Hezbollah) but from intermediaries. - The IRSF is a genuine group that has been working for months to build a broad and professional structure. The group is currently transitioning from media operations to the battlefield, carrying out some ground operations that will gradually increase. - The IRSF cooperates with other insurgent groups in Syria that have no ties to Israel, opposing any movement that aligns with the Zionist strategy to divide or balkanise Syria (* The IRSF maintains good relations with Druze nationalists and opposes Hikmat al-Hijri’s plans for self-determination). - The IRSF does not recognise the Syrian Transitional Government, considering it a “collection of gangs and militias acting under foreign directives” put in place by external actors. Operations are being prepared against “Jolani’s gangs” due to their rapprochement with Israel. - The IRSF seeks the restoration of a Syrian state “that does not compromise its rights or the dignity of its people, & maintains its sovereign decision-making independence” - The IRSF condemns the mistakes of the former regime, but acknowledges the existence of a state and an autonomous decision-making capacity right up until the final months, when the political regime was in disarray before its collapse. - The IRSF viewed the intervention of the resistance axis (Iran, Hezbollah and allies) in supporting the former Syrian political regime as a ‘legitimate matter’, given Damascus’s decision not to align itself with the occupying countries (the US, Turkey and Israel) - The IRSF views the struggle with Israel as inevitable, as regardless of any normalisation agreement, Israel will maintain an aggressive and expansionist policy, and the only response is one that is equally aggressive. - The IRSF believes that Iran and Hezbollah are resisting US/Israeli aggression and that the resistance remains stronger than it appeared. - Finally, the IRSF sees the organisation’s ultimate objective as the liberation not only of Syrian lands but also of Palestine, emphasising that the struggle is not against Jews but against Zionist colonialism.

@Suriyakmaps Gonna talk about the young athlete Iran killed today? Or is the “Axis of resistance” so perfect that they in fact killed a Mossad agent? Or the problems in Iran are only “economical and more freedom in a changing world”?

Of course, having a NAFO dog icon these days is a sign of mental retardation; I understand that you don't see the gray area or gap between the orange and blue zones. (Between me and @AMK_Mapping_ we reached the common point that you are brain-dead).

@Suriyakmaps The biggest problem comes from leting Israel use this moroccan diaspora as leverage for reinforcing moroccan dictatorship political clout in its favour. Spanish right wing racists such as VOX are instrumental for this PsyOps against Spain’s people:

Since Israel cannot enforce censorship outside its borders and prevent the world from seeing the destruction it has brought to its territory and that of others, it decides to resolve the issue militarily by attacking journalists, as happened in Gaza and now in Lebanon.

Israel is making a big mistake by killing the moderates ones. Iran is going to be more radicalised with the war & the rethoric of "giving freedom & democracy" to Iranian people is falling like a domino despite the propaganda.

Situation south of Lebanon [17/3/2026]: - Minor advances by the IDF on the outskirts of Alma el Shaab. In Marwahin, Israeli troops entered the town from the Jabal Balat base whilst continuing their advance beyond Ramiyeh after clearing the locality. The IDF advanced further north-east, clearing Qouzah and reaching the outskirts of southern Beir Lif, where Hezbollah managed to halt the incursion. In Ayta ash Shab, operations in the town were significantly expanded. - In Yaroun, the Israelis began to penetrate deeper into the town, whilst new operations commenced in neighbouring Maroun El-Ras; in Aitaroun, fighting with Hezbollah continues. There was also a small incursion into Blida. - Further north, Israeli forces continued to conduct operations along the axes of Meiss el Jabal, Hula, Markaba, Rabb et-Talatin and Al Adeisseh. They entered Taybeh and Kfarfela following heavy fighting with Hezbollah. - Heavy fighting continues in Khiam. The Israelis have advanced at great cost due to Lebanese resistance there, where they are struggling to gain complete control of the town. 🇱🇧 🇮🇱 Map: [ google.com/maps/d/viewer?… ]
