The German name for the primrose, Schlüsselblume, means “key flower,” said to be inspired by a Flemish legend. According to the tale, these flowers were placed upon the earth to “unlock” spring, ushering in a vibrant procession of blossoms and bright sunshine. #folklore #nature

In the quieter days of winter, Daphne comes into its own. Its glossy leaves and clusters of blooms may seem unassuming, yet their fragrance carries far beyond its delicate form. Preferring a sheltered position with well-drained soil and dappled shade, it thrives when undisturbed.
